how do i tape my coco's ear's? hi i was wondering how to tape my puppy's ears  i experimented today. i took two toothpicks and cut them down to the size of his innner ear(using this as a base) then i wrapped it in regular scotch tape, the clear kind for wrapping gifts i chose this tape because it didn't yank off any hair when i tested it. and it stayed stiff enough to support the ear and toothpicks i did both ears this way then i created a bridge in the middle thier standing up. but i was just wondering if i did anything wrong and how long should i leave the tape on and also how long will it take for them to stand by themselves?please help thanks!!!!!!!!!! :) |
We used duct tape and it worked well for Yoda. See here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=duct+tape |
I think that you did fine, except I would take those toothpicks out, a breeder of many years gave me an alternative, and you may think I am crazy and it looks bizarre, but if you are looking for some support for the ear along with the tape, use the inner part of a tampon. It does bend so the dog does not run the risk of injury where with a toothpick, you do run that risk. |
wow that's too funny :p i don't use tampons so i don't have any but what about maybe something like a tongue supressor or something of that nature? also how long should i leave the tape on? how long will it take before his ears stand?thanks :) |
well i took the toothpichs out and instead i cut thin cardboard to the shape of his ear and used that as a base. is that ok? also i put up a new post about neutrical? please read it and tell me what you think. thanks :) |
yorkie ears 1 Attachment(s) I use paper tape around the ear (wont stick to their hair) then place masking tape around that which stiffens the ear without needing the support, now that both ears are standing I take a larger piece of masking tape and tape the two ears together at their natural standing point creating a bridge between and around both ears. Leave it for about 3-4 days, to remove I just snip up the back. I just had to retape my babies. hope this helps Kimberly |
is it working?how long do they have to be taped? |
ears I retaped today, I did it last week for two days and they stood for only about three days, they are teething, during that time the ears are stubborn. I leave it on for about 3-4 days depending on how long it takes for one puppy to tear the other puppy's tape off:) Kimberly |
