Wanting to figure out how big will my fur baby be? :aimeeyorkHello, I'm new to this site but I was looking around and it's really helpful. I recently got my Cali. We took her to the vets last week and she weight in at 1.9 pounds at 9 weeks now my question is how big will she get and when will she stop growing? The breeder told me about 4 pounds and at the vet one of the nurses told me something else.. I know that by looking at her paws your can sort of tell but not sure..Thank You in advance.. |
Welcome to Yorkietalk!! You are going to love it here. And your baby will love you for it. A good rule of thumb is to multiply their 8 week weight by 3 or their 12 week weight by 2. She is 1.9 at 9 weeks, let's say she will be 2.1 at 12 weeks. Then she will be approximately 4.2kg full grown. Also, in the general discussion, there is a sticky on top of the threads that deals with future coat and size questions. Welcome! |
4 Attachment(s) Hi! :wavey: :welcome4: :yorkiesar Do you know how big the parents are? Like Marilize said, triple the 8wk weight or double the 12wk weight is a very general rule of thumb. But it's not an exact science, much like their color. It's constantly changing as they grow. But for me, that's half the fun of Yorkies, you own several different dogs before they are finally done.:D Gracie Ruth @ 3 months Attachment 280472 @ 6 months Attachment 280473 @ 8 months Attachment 280474 @ 13 months Attachment 280475 |

My puppy is 13 weeks old now. At about 8 weeks she weighed 1.8 lbs. At about 12 weeks she weighed 2.8 lbs. The vet said a good estimate is to double that, so I figure she will weigh about 6 lbs. full grown. This will be a little bit bigger than the breeder told me, she said her puppies would be less than 5 lbs. when grown. Both her parents were on site but I didn't pick them up. The mother was a little upset because I was holding her puppy and the father was outside. I am hoping she doesn't get larger than 6 lbs. but I will love her no matter! |
My tink sas 1.9 at 9 weeks. She weighs 5.5-6 lbs now. But there are things to consider such as there was 8 in her litter and her mother was on the larger side. It will on depend on the parents etc. |
Thank You Thank you everyone for your help... |
The "rule of thumb" is to double the weight at 12 weeks of age. Jackson weighed 6 pounds at 12 weeks old and he's now 14lbs so it was fairly close! |
