Did You Litter Train Your Pup ? I Need Advice ! :) Hello, I need Litter Trainig Help, I want to litter train my dog he will be a year old this November, I also plan on getting a yorkie puppy sometime in Dec/Jan Any help advice or your experience with this would be much appreciated  Thanks in advance :D |
I litter trained Dudley when he was just 12 weeks old. Of course it took awhile. Be aware that any way you go they take awhile to "get it". I took him to the litter box every hour or so. When he went pee pee or poop, I praised him royally and gave him a treat. He learned to use the box pretty much all the time, but it did take time. I still give him treats to go potty in the box, just because he enjoys the excitement of the moment. Good luck and be VERY patient. |
Roxy's mom I litter trained my Roxy by accident. She will be one year old in Dec. When I brought her home, I trained her with the puppy pads. I got sick of her missing the pad, so I bought a litter box at Pet Smart and put the pad inside of the litter box. It fits perfectly and is much cheaper then the litter. Not only that, she was already familiar with the pads on the floor. To my surprise, she got it right away! She is very smart. We also give her a treat everytime she "goes" because she expects it. Oh, I remember what else I did, I put the soiled pad from the floor and put it in the litter box so she knew what it was for. Hope this helps. Good luck! |

litter box I have just one litter box. It is located about four feet from our front door. I want to move it into the laundry room, because it is in our foyer, but I don't want confuse her. It is about 23"l x 18"w x 5" high. The front has a lower opening in it to make for easy in, easy out. Oh, there is one problem with the litter box. Sometimes her poopy gets stuck and she runs out of the box like something is chasing her! Then, of course the poop falls on the floor or carpet depending on how far she runs away. Since school started I have been taking her to the bus stop every morning and then for a mile walk. She has been going outside like clock work every morning, I am really happy about this new progress. |
