yorkies eat cat poop For those of you who also have cats, how do you keep your yorkies out of their litter boxes? My cats have to have their own rooms cause my yorkies will eat their poop if its out in the open. |
I have one of those litter boxes that scoops the poop right after they go. Its a good investment if you have yorkies. If I didnt have it they would be all over it. |
Well, I am glad that someone has had luck with the automatic cat litter cleaner! Be careful...Teddy learned how to open the lid that is suppose to conceal the cat poo in a matter on minutes. Now as a last result we have had to add one more baby gate at the entrance to the room that the litter box is kept in. He stays out but the cats can still get in. |
Eeewwwww!!! I had to laugh when I read that!! My friend's dog would get into the cat poo after it was rolled around in the litter and she used to find them around the house! She called them "Snowcaps" like the chocolate candy rolled in sprinkles! :D |
It is nasty to think that they like the stuff. There is more protein in the cat poo than in their own food. That is why dogs like it. All dogs will eat cat stuff, the bad part is cleaning it up. I out my cat box up on a wide shelve, as well as the food. That seems to help. |
Yep, here too. The cats litter is in the laundry room so I just put one of those wire garden fences, that's about 8" high in front of the door, the cats just scale over it, it's short enought to step over and the dogs don't bother to go over it. It works for me... |
I had 2 cats. My dogs were always in their litter boxes...GROSS! Then, they started going outside. They hung around the house but pooped all in the back yard. Well, Gracie started eating their poop. I might also add that she had her litter by this time and by her eating the poop, she was passing on bacteria to the pups through the milk. One puppy got extremely sick and almost died. treated the litter with meds and found homes for the cats. Not the answer your looking for, I'm sure, but it was an answer for me. |
We tried and tried. We begged, we treated we punished....we even tried putting the litter box in a different room but Sully ALWAYS and relentlessly found a way to sneak a snack. :mad: So, I moved Penny's litterbox up on top of the highest bookshelf in our house.... here it is in this thead I put a picture of it. This is where it's been ever since I've made this post. And if Penny jumps onto my computer desk, she can get to her litter box, no problem....and she has never NOT used her litter. So hey, if it works, go with it, right?! LOL I'm not sure where we're going to put it after we move, so we shall see!!!! haha..... |
I got tired of cleaning up the poop and the dogs. :eek: My solution I put the cats out, yep no more cat boxes. :bravo: The cats use my garden and sleep in a room next to the garage. It's great not to deal with that poop and sand. Woody does at times digs up the poop near my roses. But it's not as bad as it use to be. :yorkiesar |

I don't own a cat but my neighbors cats think my whole yard is there litter box and we need to watch Minnie all the time. I really think it a pain. Oh they don't cover it up either just go anywhere. Carol |
I hate it!!! It is so disgusting!!! Mine will all haul butt out to where the cat usually poops outside and take turns digging for treasure! It makes me sick. :mad: They love it! It has gotten so much better now that I have given away all of my kittens. Mama kitty is the only one left and she roams a lot so her main potty is not so much in the back yard anymoe. I am pregnant now and so I am always afraid that the pups will have some on their paws or something. So everytime I play with them after they have been outside I have to really wash and scrub my hands. |

Dogs like the cat poo so much, that somone in my neighborhood sells cat-poo treats for dogs. It's not really cat-poo, but is a kind of baked rice confection rolled in something that looks exactly litter. Chewey loves those too. lol. For the person whose dog was eating their own poo: That means that there's not enough cleanup going on. Dogs will eat their own poo as a way of cleaning it up. |
