i need help with my two yorkies who fight :( I have two yorkies, Charlie (2 years old, 5 lbs) and Chloe (1 year old, 8 lbs). Two days ago they both started fighting one another very aggressively, and wouldn't stop until I pulled them apart. This used to happen rarely (once every three weeks or so), but now is happening 8 or 9 times a day. Charlie and Chloe always play fight, but this is different, very aggressive. I am genuinely concerned that they are going to injure one another. I have been separating them and disciplining them sternly (by saying NO! and holding them on their backs on separate sides of the room). Have any of you had similar experiences as younger dogs matured? Or does anyone have suggestions on how o rectify these issues? |
Has something changed in their environment, & are they neutered? |

My boyfriend and I have been practicing what Cesar Milan does by trying to make the dogs submissive to us by placing them on their backs. Our friend got us a water bottle to use to try and teaching them their bad habits. We have also tried using "time-out corners". NOTHING seems to be working. I am all ears!! |
update Now the situation has become that whenever I pick up Chloe (in my arms for cuddles, on the couch, or even to put on her harness to go out on walks), Charlie starts going crazy and tries to jump up and bite her and Chloe wriggles in my arms trying to attack him too. I have never seen this happen between them, and it makes me so sad! It only happens whnen I pick up Chloe, so it definatley has to do with the attention...but Charlie is making it so that Chloe can never have her own attention. Any ideas?! |
Whenever Charlie starts acting this way you need to make him surrender and put him on his back or side until he is CALM. Keep your hand on the side of his neck. This is a submissive position and the key is to do this right away when he starts this behavior. |
