new member/introduction I am a new member and wanted to introduce myself. I found a little yorkie along the side of the road (actually he found me) 3 years ago. He had been abused so terribly that it just made your heart break!! The vet said he had been beat so bad that they had actually broken his breast bone. And his back leg had been broken and never repaired so he has very little use of it and actually has no feeling in the lower part. So needless to say he does not like most people especially until he gets to know them. He loves kids though!! He has taught me so much about life and love, my husband too. My husband had multiple heart attacks two years ago and is no longer able to work and has really became close to Graff since then. So now I am thinking that I would love to add another yorkie to our family. I would love a little girl to dress up and love on. But am also considering another male. Yorkies are hard to find in my area but I am searching and am sure that I will find her/him. My husband is home all the time and I am a home health nurse so my hours are good also. I have never bought a puppy from a breeder so any suggestions that you can give me would be great. Such as what to look for and what questions to ask. I look forward to hearing from you guys and have learned so much from this site already. |
Welcome to YT! I had the same thing happen to me.. last year I found a yorkie and he had a collar with a number and I called, but the owners never returned the call. I love him to death though.. hes the best yorkie. I guess he was abused too.. he is TERRIFIED of men. At first when my husband got around him, he'd freeze and just shake.. hes come a long way since then.. he now lays by my husband and everything. I guess they didn't want him cause hes a bigger yorkie (12 lbs) stupid people. After a while, I started wanting a little girl to dress up and put bows in her hair too.. and we bought Chloe. She is awesome. I would ask lots of questions, and make sure they ask lots of questions (good breeders usually want to know what kindof home their baby is going to.. if they don't ask questions.. they may just be in it for the money) You could ask about the parents, what size they are. Ask what it comes with, if theres a health guarentee. I'm sure other people can help you more. I didn't know what questions to ask either. |
Welcome lora9854! That is great that you rescued Graff and saved her life! Glad to hear you enjoy YorkieTalk. Good luck finding a puppy! Here's some things you may want to consider, AKC or other registration papers, seeing the puppy's Mom and Dad when you visit, see what breeding conditions they have, see how they treat their Yorkies, ask to talk to some satisfied customers, but having a good referral from someone you know always helps. |

Welcome Lora9584 !!!!!!!!!!! This is a nice site, everyone is so pleasant to each other. Very imformative forums. :yorkietal |
Welcome to YT!! G;ad you found us and that your little guy Graff found you!! In your search for anew baby you have come to the right place. It is so important and smart to do your research as this new baby could be with you as long as twenty years. There is a lot of great info on here if you do a search. I would be sure o ask to speak to the vet as a reference. Preferably after they have examined the puppy. If you decide to purchase long distance and have puppy shipped i would recommend using a puppy escrow service to acoid the scam artists out there. Good luck! |

Welcome to YT!! What a wonderful thing to do for your Yorkie baby. It's so hard to believe that anyone could abuse these little guys, they are so loving and sweet! Our Toto is 2 yrs old now and in the beginning we really wanted a small baby [which she is] but after we had her for just a short time ... heck, we didn't care if she grew to the size of a St. Bernard!! :) I don't understand why size is such an issue for some people! Again, welcome, and the only advice I can offer is study, study and ask a bzillion questions. That sweet baby girl is out there for you!! ;) |
Welcome to YT and bless you for taking Graff and making a lovable home for him since he has been through so much. Good luck in finding a new furbaby . |
Neo and i would like to welcome you to yt.Since i have joined this site i have learned so much about yorkies. Before i got Neo i read up on yorkies all the time but reading the books and expeirencing it 1st hand are so different then when i found yt a lot of the things i still had questions about were answered. Now if i have a question i can just post and they are answered also there is alot of support in YT it makes me feel like a better person.Cuz if i ever have a problem no matter what it is i know that a least 1 person has gone through the same thing.Call me silly but to me YT IS the greatest thing that i look forward to every day. Welcome Welcome to Yorkie Talk - lots of good people with helpful advise. |
Hi and welcome to YT! What a wonderful thing you did for your little yorkie guy.... maybe "he found you". As far as getting another yorkie... if you can find a local breeder and actually see the puppy it would be nice.... maybe you will find another "meant to be" puppy. I think sometimes that does happen. Ask about a health guarantee on any new puppy. Good luck. |
