Lucy's Ears Ok, I know this has been discussed on here about a million times. I'm hoping someone can explain how to massage Lucy's ears to help them stand. I've taken her to the groomer and had the top third shaved and then at the advice of the breeder took her back and had the hair shaved off her entire ear insid and out. That was last week and her ears are just as floppy as ever. I should probably tape them, but I don't think I'm ready for that. I'm going to buy cottage cheese and start giving her that. My question is this, is there a specific technique to massaging the ears? Oh, she'll be 19 weeks old on Monday and she hasn't lost any of her puppy teeth. Any advice? |
i would say, leave them alone, they will go up on their own.. i had the same problem with lexi, i was getting frustrated too... as soon as some of her teeth fell out, her ears stood up,, why? got me... my vet said let them be what they will be.... |
Some days that's what I think Lexi Rae and others I'm like "I want them up and will do anything to get them to stand." I think I should at least wait until she starts losing teeth. Thanks for replying. |
Amos' ears didn't stand up for a long time when he was a puppy. I think he was like 4 or 5 months old when his left one decided to stand. I tried tapping the right one, but it never did stand up. So now he's lopsided, and I absolutely love him for it! I think it's very cute! I don't know if any of this stuff works or not, sometimes I think they are just going to be what they are going to be. :) Oh-what's the thing about the cottage cheese? I've never heard of that? |
just give it time...its like waiting for a pot of water to boil... takes forever.... im telling you, they will stand eventually. if you want just massage the ear on the bottom and feed your baby cottage cheese, i did... |
When I had to massage Boog's ear the vet said to gently rub the ear between your fingers all the way up from the base to the tip. I did it while he was laying on my lap in the evening...it was our bonding time, it was relaxing for both of us and he always fell asleep. |
