Missed out the puppy phase While I love Brandi with all my heart and would never give her up, sometimes I wonder what kind of puppy she was. I mean like what was her personality, or what did she look like. For those of you who don't know, Brandi is a 7 yr old rescue so I missed out on her puppy phase. I have to admit when I look at or read about all the members with their new yorkie puppies, and I get a little sad that I didn't have Brandi as a puppy. God knows she would not have gone through what she has. At any rate she is with me now and she is living pretty darn large. I think she deserves it after what she has been through in her short life. Fortunately for me she still sort of has a puppy look.:aimeeyorkIn fact I swear she acts like a puppy sometimes.....seems like I'm always making sure she is okay and not getting into anything that may hurt her. I would love to someday get Brandi a companion but now is not a good time. She still has some jealousy issues (she hates other dogs)to work on as well as other things. But she is getting better. Okay whatever I was feeling has passed now. Just needed to get that out. |
you did a good thing for her..and maybe to fulfill the puppy phase you missed out on maybe think about getting another yorkie...this time a puppy....hehe...there are plenty of puppies i see on petfinder...if you are wanting to rescue...hehe...or find a reputable breeder. just some suggestions.. |
You did a wonderful thing but I know exactly how you feel. I got Sugar at 18 months so he was full grown. I always tell him, I bet you were the cutest puppy in the whole world! I wish I at least had pictures. I feel so sad that I missed out on that but I know I'm lucky to have him now. |
I totally understand your feelings. My last dog was a rescue and I loved her so much and sometimes I wondered how she was as a puppy. I missed not having those memories. She was about 2 years old when I got her, and she lived for 16 years. |
I understand our rescue was 4 yrs old when we got her. She's living it up pretty good now too. Hubby and I think she deserves it. But I wonder how different she'd be now if her life wasn't spent in a cage up till almost a year ago. We'll never know. |
You are such an Angel.... |
i know how you feel. i got milu when she was 20 weeks old. i know that is still a puppy but when i see people with pictures of their yorkies at 8 weeks 12 weeks of age. it really makes me wonder what milu looked like and behaved like at that age. luckily, like you said, i do also think that yorkies looks like puppies forever, they are so small and cute. :aimeeyork |
I know how you feel too! I got Thor when he was two years old. On the other hand, I'm not sure I would have had patience for him as a puppy. It's been quite the ordeal to get him potty trained as an adult, I don't know if I would have lived through it as a puppy. Thor's former owner told me that she bought him from a pet store in LA specializing in tiny dogs(!). She said he had a sister with him. I wonder what happened to her too. I hope she is in a good home now. Also... I must admit that sometimes I wish he could be a daddy, even though I know he's not a good representative of the breed. He's just so cute and I bet his puppies would have been too. Don't worry everyone, he's neutered. ;) |
Well, in a way be thankful.... because puppy stage is TOUGH. lol. However, it is nice being able to raise Jackson and watch him grow and raise him into the dog I want him to be. I'm really all he's ever known which is nice to know sometimes! |
I feel like that, too! I got Addie when she was nine months (part of rehoming because the family felt they couldn't give her the attention she deserved, especially with another two or three kids and another on the way). It's not that serious, I guess since I still did get her before she was a year, but I often wonder what she looked like, how she acted and everything else about her. They just look so different when their puppies, and I really miss that. I definitely wouldn't trade my pup for anything, but it still makes me a little sad sometimes to not have had that experience with her. Plus, I wonder if she ever thinks about and misses her previous family. :( It's probably part of the reason why I spoil her soooo much ... although, I would have spoiled her regardless! |
Willow Jasmine was a little over 5 mos when I got her and I wished she had been a little younger. You said she looked and acted a little like a puppy, maybe she is trying to relive those years now that she has you for a mommy. What I am saying is that now that she feels comfortable, secure and safe, she can behave in a more carefree manner like a puppy acts. |
