Seriously? For about a week now, Curly will not do ANYTHING without me standing right there. If she has to pee, she'll only use the tiny bit of piss pad nearest the bathroom door so she can still look out the door to see me on the other side. She won't eat unless I'm in the room with her food. She follows me around like a shadow, many times underfoot where I accidentally step on her foot which neither of us likes. I let her sleep in my bed ONCE last week and haven't been able to shake her since. Of course, that once turned into every night cuz I'm a sucka but damn, you're in my bed, what else do you want from me???:rolleyes: Oh, and when my son wants to take her outside to play or for a walk, she won't go out unless I'm going too. She gets all excited to go out until she see's I'm still in the bus and she heads right back up the steps to be with me. She's just now 6 months old and she loves, loves, LOVES everybody. She just won't do anything anymore without ME. Anyone know why??? |
She loves you Mom, All of my Yorkies are just like that. They want to be right on top of me and wont go out unless I go with them. You are her PAC LEADER and her WORLD. Love her, I think most Yorkies are like this. Good Luck...LROD |
Laya went through a phase like that when she was a puppy. She sort of got over it, but she still doesn't like to go out to walk with anyone but me. She will pull and pull to get back to me. She is such a brat!:p |
Couver is like this sometimes... I am definitely his favorite, so when my DH calls him, he sometimes runs to me :p Now that doesnt make him happy... haha I think she will get over it slowly... I believe that they will always have their favorites, but they will eventually get over the obsession phase :) |
I would start letting other members of the family take the lead in her overall care, walking, feeding, training. The type of behavior your dog is exhibiting can lead to SA and guarding/protecting problems. You need to teach her to be a little more independent. |
Anther thing you can do is tohave other family members feed her. She we start getting more close to them as well if they take on more resonsibilty caring for her. My Suzi does this with me. I could not even go to the bathroom without her trying to knock the door down! Sometimes, she was able to push the door open! I love Suzi dearly. I never knew that yorkies could be like a little child though! very demanding, and clingy. I think that she probably spends more time with you the most as well, therfore she is very atttatched to you, and feel secure, safe with you. :aimeeyork |
Thanks everyone. Curly made it clear from the beginning that she was MY dog and would be near me most of the time but she always, until recently, would run and play with the kids too. She actually belongs to my son Jack so he has always fed her, picked up after her, loved on her, etc. The teenagers play with her a lot also. Just lately, if I leave the room, she runs to be near me. I just love this little girl but sometimes I need to NOT have her under my feet. If I put her in the other room she cries, if I send her out to play with Jack, she cries and just keeps coming back to the door where I am. Silly girl. If I can't work, we can't eat...GO PLAY!:p |
