New dads to a 3 month old Hi! We have a new 3 month old silky! We loved her instantly. We've had her 2 weeks now. Still some adjusting and we're sure more to come. Our first challenge is the biting. Potty is better. We're king to do the beginner traing thing soon. If anyone wants to share potty and biting tips.... Bring it on!!! |

Hi Lucy's Dads! I'm Curly's momma. Curly used to bite a lot and I found that if I squealed like it hurt, just a quick YIPE!...just like her litter mates would, she'd let go. Now, I just say "be nice" whenever we're playing and she's getting too rough, and she lightens up her mouthing. I don't know that you're supposed to let them mouth you at all but I think it's fun for both of us and she now understands how to play using her mouth, without hurting us. Hope this helps! Welcome to YT! Funny I can't remember the biting stage much anymore but I'm sure we probably went through it. I found this link and it seems to have some good reading. I'm sure others here will have some great ideas too. Dog Owner's Guide: "No bite!" |

Check in the training forum, there are lots of great idea there and I even think there is a potty training thread. :) |
When we first got Kaia she mouthed us all the time. She bit fairly often when playing, but never did she bite very hard. She doesn't mouth nearly as much, but if she does, we just say "Kisses Kaia! Kisses!" She'll back off from biting and just give kisses, it's actually really cute! :) |
