Donating member, public appology i want to appologize here to the person that did donate to YT on my behalf. I had no idea that someone really did do that because they had a lot of respect for me. I had put a disclaimer on a post that I would never donate to this forum, which I wouldn't, but I did not know that it was a bona fide member here that did donate for me. For which I would like to publicly thank that member and I am so sorry for my gaffe. |
Aww.. how nice that someone would donate for you! |
Just curious...why would you not donate to YT? |
I think it is nice of you to apologize but I really don't understand why you say you would never do it yourself. I feel YT provides a wonderful service for all yorkie lovers, even though we all may not agree on certain things. |
I dont like the puppy selling that goes on here, I don't like the wrong colours promoted here. You will not find a reputable breeder selling anything here. i don't like the poor quality yorkies bred to be sold here but that's my opinion, if you don't agree that's your opinion. I do like that most of you on this forum have clued into 'teacups'. I don't like the breeding going on with no mentors no help and some poor little female is due to have puppies whose owner has no idea how to care for or how to recognize if there is a problem which could cost her life and/or that of her pups. Anything can go wrong in experienced hands but it sure helps if you know what you are looking at and if you have a mentor and good Vet you work with to help. I am rather distressed at some of the threads from puppy owners that really don't have a clue and I feel rather sorry for their pet. Although that is not totally i guess the fault of the owner, it is obvious they bought from someone who told them nothing about what to expect from Yorkies or being a Yorkie owner. They can be a difficult breed to own especially when they are sold too young. They take time, patience and an owner who is around a good part of the time. Many are people I would never consider selling to, but then there are people that enquire for puppies or dogs from me who are not on this forum that I won't sell to either. Sooooo maybe the forum isn't that different from what's out there in the world but in my opinion, it is not the place to find a puppy nor is it a place to sell a puppy. As I also mentioned before, many posts shouldn't be here but should be questions or concerns addressed by a Vet or the breeder the pup or dog was bought from. So, what am I doing here? Well sometimes i ask myself that and often I take a long time away from it. But when I do get involved, I post because I figure if I have helped just one person and/or one dog or pup and was able to direct someone on how to find a puppy or dog and away from bad breeders then Iguess it is worth it. |

This is just my opinion... but if you've posted over 1,000 times, you are getting SOMETHING out of being here, and it would seem appropriate to me to donate. Running a site like YT takes money and effort. Even if you don't donate, it's taking it a step further to say how you'd NEVER donate because the site is not up to your standard. |

I agree with many of your points Lorraine. In an ideal world everyone would know better and do the right thing. But this is reality and people are going to behave in a way that may not always make sense in a logical way. They want that cute little yorkie even if they don't really know what they are getting into. They don't really know why they should get a dog from a good breeder that cost $2000, when they can get elsewhere for $900. Also, many reputable breeders will not sell them a dog so they have no choice. But because they want one, they are going to get one anyway and that's reality. You, being a knowledgeable reputable breeder are in the unique position of helping guide these people to a better path. Running from it doesn't make these people change, only educating them does. So I encourage you to fight the good fight because not only do these owners need you but their dogs do as well. |

Well, I can't say that I agree. To me it is like saying sinners are not welcome at church. We all make mistakes and way before the internet there have been pet breeders and hobby breeders. They don't teach you in school to get a mentor before you breed a dog. Most people just think you buy a male and a female and put them together. Most people just learn about breeding from a family member, a book or a vet. I think YT is a valuable learning tool for all yorkies lovers. We can all learn from each other. I am trying to learn about showing yorkies myself and I really hate the fact that not that many show breeders come here. I do appreciate your input and I always enjoy reading your posts so I do hope you continue to pop in ever so often.:) |

I am not holier than thou just feel sorry for the dogs a lot of the time and would rather try to help direct someone looking for a nice pet away from here. Just as with anyone else posting, take the info or leave it be, up to you. If you read my posts, most of them are giving information or trying to. I just started a thread called the Real difference between show dogs and pet, for example. I don't have much time anymore for this and am spending way too much time now doing this. But as I said, if I can provide good information to just one person somewhere, then it must be a good thing for me to post here. And I do get PM's thanking me for the info so I guess although I tend to speak my mind which will rackle some, I can't be all bad, can I? No, I do not sell here, do not advertise here, do not advertise sales on my website either. I don't take Paypal, mastercard or other credit cards, don't ship, interview stringently, not easy to get a dog or pup from me when I do happen to have one. So if you all will excuse me, I am kind of busy and have to get back to things to do. |

i am able to take care of my yorkie SO MUCH better because of this site. before finding this site, i read many books, researched on the internet, and relied on my vet for all my information, it wasn't until finding this site that i was able to learn so much more about yorkies specifically. it was really nice of you to post an apology. you didn't have to, it was just your opinion that you don't agree with things that are allowed on this site, therefore you don't feel like supporting the site by donating. the thing is, this site helps so many people take better care of their yorkies. and it is wonderful that this site does not REQUIRE you to make a donation to be a member. which for how useful this site has been to me, i think they would be totally justified in making it a requirement. but it's really wonderful that they don't. i haven't found another forum online that's so responsive. i get to ask any questions i have about my yorkie and get an answer so quickly from other members. |
