Okay first of all hi all I am back we are all moved in our new house and didn't have the net for 2 weeks drove me crazy. Anyways we got all settled in and I notice that Tommy was missing alot hair by his tail upper back so like a good mommy took him to he vet, he gave him a allergy shot...but he is still lossing hair I wanted your oppion before I went back to the vet. I thought it could be his nerves but I don't know. He don't have worms or fleas he is up to date on eveything.I run to the vet all the time. I am a huge worrie wort.. Thanks for listening. Hope some one can help. |
Poor baby - do you think he was stressed from the move ? That's kind of strange and I'm sure the vet checked for mange ...but I've heard allergies can cause hair loss - Maybe some Yorkie Rogaine ? just kidding :D...but give the shot time - hair re-growth can be a slow process... |
Sorry, I haven't a clue except for maybe stress like Villette said. How old is Tommy?? |
I thought it might be stress also but don't know. He will be a 1yr this oct. |
Do you see any new growth?? Is he scratching?? or anything? If not is, I would really think stress, does he have all his stuff?? toys?, bed? |
Sophie had to have an allergy shot yesterday. She had some minor hair loss around her mouth. So it could be allergies. I also know a lady who had a poodle who did the same thing as you have described and she to was moving into a new house. So I agee with everyone it is probably stress or allergies. Hope he feels better soon. |
Is the hair loss patchy or a solid circle or what? I don't know why I'm asking that, but perhaps each case might be different? Villette mentioned ringworm once. Is it in a circle, Villette? |
There is new growth, it looks like i took a razor to it. So I think its going to grow back but there is othere pieces of hair falling out here and there and i know they don't shed well maybe a bit but not like he is doing. Maybe I should take him back to the vet. |
Diagnosis Cushing's disease has a large effect on the skin. Many skin conditions have similar symptoms, so numerous diseases have to be kept in mind when making a diagnosis. These include hypothyroidism, skin allergies, sarcoptic mange, demodectic mange, and Ringworm. http://www.lbah.com/canine/cushingsummary.htm#symptoms Don't let this scare you. I found this link and each of the conditions above are linked at this site, so you can go read about them. Even skin allergies. That might help you some. OK? :) |
