Hi I'm new at this so bear with me! Hi, I just joined YT. I'm not all sure of how to do this, but here goes. I have three Yorkies, all very different from one another. "Harley" is 8 yrs old, weighs 16 lbs, and has wavy thick hair. Scooter is 1 year old weighs 5.2 lbs and is my little imp! Rita is 6 years old, and is interested in two things, eating and sleepin! Rita weighs 6.11 lbs. I have had her only two weeks. Harley & Scooter came from Pet stores ( I didn't know any better...puppy mills). I got them both when they were 10 weeks old. Rita came from a breeder in Holbrook Arizona (Gold Dust Yorkies) that was looking to rehome her. She is not familar with alot of handling and affection, but we are working on it. She has come a long way in just 2 weeks. Even though the lady had her for 6 years, she was bred only once, and I'm guessing never got much human attention. It's kind of sad as my other two are best of friends, playing with each other and always wanting my or my husband's attention. Has anyone else ever experienced this with a rehomed yorkie? I am looking for a fourth Yorkie, but I don't have any reputable breeders near me in Fort Myers, Florida. Maybe some of you can help me find someone. Thanks, Elizabeth:):aimeeyorkHarley:aimeeyorkScooter & :aimeeyork Rita |
Hello and welcome! Good luck with your search for a new furbaby |
Hi and welcome! I can't imagine having 3, my one is a handful! There are plenty of great people on here that can help! Good Luck! |
Welcome.... Just give Rita a little time. 6 yrs is a long time to catch up with emotions, etc...But I think once she starts to realize what good ol' lovin' is, you start to see her emerge and blossom :) I have family in Naples ;) But I don't know of any Reputable Yorkie Breeders in that area... How about anther rescue: Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder |

WOW...three Yorkies! They all sound lovely..even Ms. Rita. Yorkies are such a loving breed, I can't imagine she won't come around sooner rather than later. Welcome to YT!! |
Thanks for the encouragement, I tried to put a picture of my three up next to where I post, like you have. It is in my profile but not next to my post, any suggestions? Like I said I'm new at this |
Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk. :) A picture next to your post is called and avatar. To upload a picture, go to User CP, then edit avatar. You can then upload your picture. Hope this works. :) |
Welcome to YT! :) |
Hey, thanks, I did it! I will have to take a better picture as this one is a little hard to see. What I don't know about computers could fill volumes, but I'm gonna hang in there because I find this site very informative. |
Welcome to YT!!! I know you'll get so much help here with any and all your questions, especially your 'Rescue' girl. Good Luck on your search for a good breeder! :) |
Hi welcome to you and your babies. Im sure you will find a new baby in no time. Theyre addicting. |
Poor Rita, she's not a happy Yorkie :confused:Yeah, I'm hoping she will realize she was meant to be loved on and paid attention to. Rita seems emotionally bankrupt. She sleeps most of the time, unless we're holding, feeding, or brushing her. I don't know if she is depressed or just isn't use to anyone giving her attention except bare necessity like feeding or bathing. She will come to me when I call her, and she likes to be held, but she doesn't seek out attention on her own, like my other two. Rita is the first one I've had that I didn't raise from a puppy. I am wondering if anyone else has been through this? I have seen improvement since we first got her almost three weeks ago. When we come home from being out somewhere, she does show some excitement now. The first week she didn't even pick up her head! Rita is 6 yrs old, she walks and behaves like she's 15! I've not seen her run, play with my other two, not even interested in a toy, which given Yorkie's curious nature, I find disturbing. Am I being a worry wart?:aimeeyork |
Welcome! Good luck with finding your new yorkie! When its right, you will find it! Glad to have you here! |
