Obedience Training I am going to start Ranger in obedience training in June after he is 10 weeks old. The trainer is a certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluater and is a member of the association of Pet Dog Trainers so i feel really comfortable with her. Does anyone know more about obedience classes or have suggestions? |
Go & have a good time. The key is to practice everything at home everyday. If you don't do the homework, no progress will be made. You should enjoy the classes. |
I agree, the trainer isn't really training your dog, she will teach you the exact method in which to train your dog, and answer any questions you might have concerning training. Unless you take the time to practice several times a day, the dog will not learn anything. I found training works best if Joey was slightly hungry, and eventually I started using his breakfast for training. Training right after a meal, is frustrating, because they aren't that anxious to learn or pay attention. Good luck, although we completed a trick training class, Joey still could use an obediance class! |
