Puppy Coat My puppy is 11wks, will be 12wks on June 4th and i wanted to know when or around what time did you get your puppy there puppy trim. He has a good while in my opinion for his coat to really thicken. I also am gradually switching his food from purina puppy to Nutro Puppy, and hoping this will help if it is a food allergy/the itching...He has been itching alot (it is that time of year) and I don't know if it's because he is wearing a colar and sometimes I have a small camo shirt on him at night time b'c I don't want him to get cold. He only itches around his neck... |
Well actually the coat you want doesn't thicken...a silk coat is very thin. Most of my puppies have all gotten hair cuts by 4 - 6 months. Please don't feed Nutro...it has been linked to thousands of dog deaths. Itching can also be a sign of a food allergy to grains. You may wish to feed a grain free food. |

What is grain free and for a puppy? I couldn't keep my dachshund on a good quality food b'c she always would get bladder infections...I tried Nutro, Nature's Variety, and Wellness and the only thing that worked was Iam's, which was really weird IMO. The vet insisted on Iam's and once we were on it she never had a infection. I always gradually switched her over to a new food and never was it ever a drastic change. |
No the problems with nutro are recent google it |
i started bringing coral to the groomer at 14 weeks or so just to get used to it. she would get a wash and a little trim and they would put a bow in her hair. |
I personally think its the collar. Be careful as they can get it caught on things. Tias collar still makes her itch around the neck now , she only wears it for her tags and never unsupervised. The other guys gave you good advice about the food though. Remove the collar first , see how you go.:D |
