Judgemental puppy Hi! I just adopted a sweet lil 4 mth old boy...there's only one problem...he likes blondes, redheads & salt/pepper hair but growls at brunettes! How do I stop this? Luckily I am blonde. :-) |
Wow..you are going to have to NIP that in the bud! Remind him that just bvecause their hair is a "different" color does not make them a bad person. I hope he can get past this.......;) WELCOME! What's the little stinkers name? |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk!!!!! Well, you will just have to get on him and teach him. These little furkids can be challenging!!!! Cant wait to see pictures!!!!! |
Kenzie...He is awesome! He has the best lil personality and is so smart! |
Thanks for the welcomes! This site is amazing! I have picked up so many great tips! |
Welcome to YT!!! I recommend that you have friends who are brunettes help you train him. Give them little pieces of a yummy treat that he can't resist (cooked chicken, kibble, liver snaps what ever it is that he just has to have a taste of when he smells it) when the friends are close enough have them offer it to him. If he's snappy with them then have them toss it on the ground in front of him and just ignore him. Dogs like humans want attention so if his growling isn't getting the reaction he wants but this person has yummies he will soon stop growling and become a love bug ;o) Good Luck and Congratulations!!! |
These guys are so funny and particular. Marcel will bark and get upset if there is a person on TV who has all white (ie, greyish white) hair. Go figure. :p |
Ok On the day i took the girls to downtown Memphis we found an outdoor place that allowed doggies. Ok so the horse drawn carriages are constantly going by. Horse after horse (all mostly white) goes by and nothing, but as soon as black or brown horse goes by Miss Mika goes beserk, followed by Maya (the copycat), the diners don't like this too much. I am puzzled as to why she only barks at the darker horses. This continued at Beale street as well. \0/ |
Yeah, have some brunettes toss him some special treats when he's not growling at them & let's see if he changes his mind about them. Might be pretty hard to stay upset with them. Welcome to YT! |
We got a rescue that doesn't like our son. He's not around enough for her to really get to know him. There are only two things we can think that might be the problem. He's a smoker and maybe the last place she lived had a smoker who was mean to her. The other option is he and his girlfriend watched her while we went to a wedding right after we got her. They picked her up after we left and took her to their house. She bolted out their door and ran like crazy. Total strangers caught her and brought her to the vet who was closed. He met them and took her back to his house till we got there. We often wonder if she thinks he tried to kidnap her while we were gone. That was last year and to this day she barks like crazy if she even thinks she hears his truck. She tenses up if I hold her and he pets her, and won't go near him otherwise. Last time he was here he played with the cat and she growled at him for that. |
Maybe a brunette was mean to him once?? Hmm... I would try having a brunette give him treats like RoxyLuv said. |
