Interbreed Nothing to do with my yorkie but, I just found out that my golden is interbreed. She was a product of a brother and a sister. The sad thing is that I got her from my sister's friend and she just didn't tell me. She told me that she was having trouble selling them and that is why she gave her too me but I didn't realize. I now know I should have asked questions. she is healthy but it is annoying. |
That is irresponsible... I would be mad too! You are lucky she is healthy!! :) |
Some people are clueless!..I'm happy she is at least healthy:) |
Your lucky I saw a little dauschund at the dog park that was interbred and the poor little thing was blind and running in circles it was so sad. |
I saw an add at a feed store many years ago. It said: MAKE MONEY FAST!! Buy my shelti pups and make extra $$. So, out of curiosity, my friend called. He asked how he could make money by buying her puppies. The lady proudly said that if he bought a male and female, he could breed them and make $$. He asked if she had more than one litter and she said no, just one litter to choose from. Take about an IG-NOR-AMOUS!!!! |
Ok, I found out a little more. She had purchased the male from the breeder and her sister in-law had gotten a female and decided a few months latter that she couldn't take care of it. My sister's friend took her to keep her from going to a shelther but didn't realize that she was inheat when she got her and it was too late. When she took her to get her fixed she was pregnant. So I guess it isn't completely her fault but still she could have told me. |
I'm sorry this happened to you. However dogs are not people so you don't have to worry about them mentally having problems. However the sad thing is if the parents have recessive genes, oh boy, passes them on to the litter and 2 littermates breed? Tons of problems. I knew only one woman in my own lifetime of Goldens that did a inbreeding. She was a show/breeder for over 25 years. The entire pedigree was her own dogs. I never believed in it myself. Simply because recessive genes are just that, recessive, not seen. Double them and look out Happy your Golden is healthy and happy. How old? Carol and Jemma |

Inbreeding brother and sister is not desirable but that does not necessarily mean the offspring will be all messed up. |
Yeah, star doesn't actually have any problems either. |
ugh ... I can only imagine how upset you were/are. I went to look at some yorkies and the lady was talking about breeding a dad with one of his daughters or mom with a son. I just wanted to SCREAM!!! Well need less to say I sped away! |
