jumping machine I was just wondering if any of your fur babies are jumping machines?? My baby Coco, weighs 8#'s (half yorkie and half silky terrier) can jump baby gates, jump onto bar stools (that are about 3ft tall) which she then jumps onto the counter and robs any food in site. (lol) She also will jump off of anything such as the couch (4ft) to the floor, runs at lighting speed up and down the halls and around in circles. It's scary cause a few weeks ago i was walking her on a trail and she jumped up on the ledge (which was 3ft high) and almost went over the waterfalls!!! I was SOOOO scared!! wasn't expecting that!! She actually reminds me of a cat!!! Is it the yorkie part of her or is it the silky terrier??? |
MY George loves jumping too yesterday he was on a stool and I just caught him in time before he tried to jump across to another stool, I could see him eyeing it up, doing the little bum waggle getting ready but too far mummy thinks, he jumps onto the lazyboys and up the backs of them and when he jumps down its way out from the chair, like he's trying for the long jump record, makes me really nervous as his little legs are so skinny but impossible to stop. |

Curly is a jumping fool!!! Only thing is, she's so little, she can't even get on the futon without a step stool hahaha. I put her behind the baby gate and she just jumps and hollers the whole time until I let her out. She looks hilarious, just can't get over it and it's a home made one that is only about 14" tall lol. |
What Laddy can't jump on or over he scales. The sofa, the coffee table , his 36 inch high xpen etc. and he is only 3lbs. It terrifies me and I am always trying to get there before he jumps back down. He even tried to jump off our stairs from the 8th step:eek:. I caught him in the nick of time. I dont know how you stop them from jumping. We tried stairs and ramps. He would go up them and down to other end of sofa or bed and jump off.:p He is so tiny it terrifies us. |
I don't know if its a silky thing or not because my silky jumps all over the place. And he does scare me he will jump off of anything.:eek: But my yorkie thank god is not big on jumping. |
I don't think its a Silky thing my Laddy is a Yorkie:p My daughter has a Silky who will jump up on the sofa but thats about the only thing he jumps on. I think it just depends on the dog. |
I have one jumper and one not so much. My 9lber will jump on ANYTHING and off anything. He scares me. Ain't no height or distance he thinks he can't make! My other 5lber, thankfully, is not as brave. His little bird bone legs would snap I think. |
I'm 5'8 and my Mia jumped into my arms the oher day. I was shocked. It was the first time she did anything like that. Now she wants to do it all the time. She is also a climber. We call her our cat. (we can't have cats DH allergic) She is always on the back of the couch sunning herself. She is 7 lbs and 5 months today. |
Piper is 6lbs. and she doesn't jump on or off anything. She also doesn't do stairs. She was diagnosed with Legg Perthes Disease when she was 7 months and had to have hip surgery. I don't know if the reason she doesn't jump is because she was in pain when she was a puppy and she never learned how to jump. She is now a year old and I noticed if I'm on the couch and she wants up she'll like jump straight up in the air. I think she wants to jump on the couch but hasn't figured out how to do it. I'm kind of hoping she never learns how to jump. It makes life a lot easier. |
Roxy is a jumper too. She's fearless. If she weren't so good at it (even the first big jump) I'd worry more. I can't imagine that I could ever be able to stop her from jumping regardless of method or time spent trying to stop her in spite of all the training information I've read. I think she'd have to be in a lot of pain. Yikes! |
Sadie loves to jump vertically in the air. Can jump 4 feet, especially if I am holding my cockatiel and she wants to devour him. She can be very dertermined. I am trying to train her not to do that, but not working too well. She is afraid of hard wood floor steps and needs to be carried. Go fgure. |
