New Need Info I am new owner of two , appear to be mother/daughter. Anyway to tell which is which? Best way to determine age ? One is afraid of nothing and eats as well as adopts well to new surrounding. The other appears afraid of everything , hard to catch for collar etc, does not eat as well as the other. Any hints would be appreciated. |
How did you come by them? If you don't know who is who, what makes you think they are Mother/daughter? Just trying to get a little more info before throwing out any ideas. |
Welcome to yorkie talk. I am not sure what you are asking. Are these yorkies? Where did you get them? How long have you had them. Are they both full grown? Do you have pictures? The more input you can give us the more we can help you. |
1st let me say welcome to YT! You'll find tons of helpful Yorkie lovers here. IMO I would think the mother is the more in control one of the two. as for aging them, your vet should be able to help you out there. A good estimate is to look at their teeth. Are there baby teeth n there or tartar build up? A word of warning, yorkie's are known to have bad teet so you will want to start a tooth brushing routine if you are not already. I try to do my guy's daily. My vet said as long as I'm doing his teeth three times a week it should be healthy. Good luck and Welcome!! |
New need info Dogs were picked up by dog lover running loose after weeks of advertising could not find owner, she could not keep them, gave them to us. She supposed they were mother daughter so I just took her word for it. I f I assume the more agressive is the mother she is quite smaller than the daughter. They move around in tandem , one gets up they both get up , one goes across the room they both go across the room. If I raise my hand one of them flenches as if she has been hit is that a good assumption ? Thanks for the response . |
Any two dogs that have spent a lot of time together, may act like that. Take them to a vet, have him scan them for microchips to check for owners and information. The vet can tell approximate age by looking at their teeth at other traits. The vet should be the first stop for any dogs you find and intend to keep. Just make sure no one has stolen them and then let them go far from home. You might want to post a general location where the dogs were found -- someone here may know of missing Yorkies in the area. |
