Changing colors again?! When we brought Smokey home, he was a dark, dark gray (almost black). He was 6 months old at the time and his roots were a light silver. We cut off all his puppy hair around 1 year old and he's been very silver to the point where he's almost white since then. Just recently (at 2 years old), I've noticed his roots are darkening to a grayish-blue. These aren't like minor color changes... they are drastic. I mean, I expect it as a puppy, but he's 2 years old! Should he be changing colors this drastically? |
Yes, some Yorkies change right away, and some take their time. Princess changed so many times up until she was 2 1/2 years old. I have pictures that some would say that's not Princess, but you can tell by her eyes it's really her.:2hearts2: |
Mayzie was black when I got her as a baby and then went to a lightish gray/silver/beige and now at 3 her roots are black not. Where she'll end up, nobody knows! :p I got Mozes at 3 and he will turn 6 on Thursday and he is very black. |
Ashley, TeresaM Yorkie, Boo just started changing colors and he is around 5 or 6 years old. I guess you never know... |
Sam is 5 years old and he is getting lighter. |
Thor is almost 3 years old, and he is still changing. It's not dramatic, but it's definitely happening. His chest turned bright orange for a couple months, and then turned back to apricot. He had very dark blue shoulders, and now it's turning light grey like the rest of his body. |
Sophie started out black and tan. She's two and a half now and she is blue and gold. I love her coloring. Her gray color has a blue tint (which is on her body) and her paws, face and ears are gold (blond beige color). Sophie had the skunky look for a while too. I thought she was balding but it was just the lighter hair growing in. I remember when I gave her a puppy cut that cut off all of the black hair. She looked like a totally different dog for a minute. |
