Kennel? My husband and i are going to Hawaii on vacation. I dont know what to do with my Chloe. My daughter has a 2 year old and im concerned she wont be able to watch her closely. She's only 2.8lbs and i'm concerned my grandson could "accidently" seriously hurt her. The last time i asked my mother to puppy sit she bonded with my pup and when i got back the pup didnt want me anymore. It was so bad i ended up giving her to my mom. I'm wondering what to do. Does anyone live in Riverside CA area and is there a kennel that will take wonderful care of her for a week? I hear Hawaii wont let you bring your pup unless they have 3 months quarantine. I just got her 2 weeks ago so that's not possible. |
WOW! Lucky you! I love Hawaii, it is the most beautiful place in the world (imo). You can send her here! I promise to take good care of her. (of course, I can't promise she wont fall in love with me.) If you are going via DFW I can meet you there. |
I live in San Diego and I would take her. I have three and they are all little so I am used to it. Is your breeder local? Maybe she would take her back for the week. I know that Sandy or Wee R Yorkies has a pet sitting service and she has malteses and yorkies. She is near Irvine I think. |
Actually, from what I heard is, Hawaii will let them in. My boyfriend and I are going to Hawaii too, but not till the end of the year. We will be staying with his mom and her husband. She said yes, bring Bella, her husband said "NO DOGS!". So we have to leave Bella back at home too. But she said dogs were allowed in. |
i say let your mom watch her, it seems she can really take care of her. even if they bond, thats ok, its your mom, and the pup will be safe and you will be at ease...when you get home, she will bond back with you. |
I would imagine you are allowed to bring dogs to Hawaii, but my guess is there are lots of restrictions for bringing animals onto the island. 3months quarantine does not seem out of line. We went to Hawaii on our honeymoon and they explained to us that Hawaii has a very delicate egosystem so anything unfamilar to the areas can cause big problems. They never used to have mosquitos, but they were brought over on a plane, and the same thing happened with snakes. They had no snakes on the island and then one day one got wrapped up on the landing gear of a plane and brought there and no there island is pratically over run with brown snakes because there are no natural predators. I guess I don't know what this has to do with the quarantine, but i just found it interesting. I understand your heartache about your dog bounding with your mom. All animals love my mom and she has the perfect place for a dog...lots of land, a pond, other dogs, and cats. I don't know about your little one, but my little guy has a enough love to go around. You're little one might bond with your mom, but that won't stop them from bonding with you when you get back. I would leave it with my mom because i knew then he atleast would be safe and it'd be one less thing i had to worry about on my trip. |
We went to Hawaii earlier this summer and I checked, there is a minimum of 7days (or 5) quarantine, they have to have had 2 rabies shots and a bunch of other stuff, they take the dog from the plane to the quarantine place and it sounds like a lot of stress for the dog! Find a good place here, in Hawaii you will be doing alot of stuff they won't let you bring your puppy anyway. He would spend alot of time alone! Good Luck! Have fun! |
I suggest that you leave her with your mom ...she will have so much more freedom than being at the kennel...and it sounds like your mom would give her lots of attention. When you get back let your lil furbaby know just how much you missed her...spoil her rotton lol Have a wonderful time in Hawaii take pics and let us see :p |
Have fun on your trip to Hawaii. I would let Chloe stay with your mom. I think your mom will take good care of her and she will bond with you when you get back. |
