Pack Animals I have always known that dogs were pack animals and that there is an alpha and then omegas. I have learned something else recently though both by watching the Dog Whisperer, Casar Milan and by talking to Wallace Haven who owns the Puppy Haven Kennel. These two men both make their livings by studying dog behavior and they both believe that dogs are happiest and most fulfilled when they live with a pack. They say that the pack teaches them things that they cannot learn from humans. Things that make them more comfortable as dogs and allow them to be happier and less anxious in their defined roles. So, when you need to rationalize why you need yet another dog, yorkie or otherwise, you can use the "pack" argument. LOL |
Good thinking!! |
LOL...Believe me I will use this as a defense at some time in the future! |
I don't think many saw this thread as it was moved so I am bumping it. Do you think dogs like the company of humans or dogs more or is it equal? |
when is this show on?? |

I think it depends on the dog. Biddy loves people, but really isn't interested in other dogs. She gets along with them, but she prefers the company of humans. Whereas Tucker really loves other dogs. He'd rather be around Biddy than anybody else (I wish she felt the same way about him!). I know he loves me & Scott, but he really isn't interested in other people... |

Ava I think likes dogs better. She will greet a person but they always want to pick her up and she runs away so they can't!! HeeHee |
That is an excellent argument. I'll have to keep that one in mind! |

Don't need an excuse but this is a good one since my boys are inseparable. Once I had to take Bengie to emergency for an overdose of my DD's meds and he stayed for five days. During that time Garett was inconsolable. He moped around, would not play, kept looking for his brother and cried a lot more. (he is my whiny little kid). He was so happy to see Benni when he came home. The funniest thing that they do is that one of them grabs a toy in his mouth and the other will grab the other end of the same toy and they run through my apartment like they are harnessed together like a pair of horses. Also, a toy can sit in their basket for weeks on end and as soon as one decides that is the toy to play with then the other wants it too. LOL they are my lifeline, they bring such joy to my life, I am actively saving for another one when I move out of state. |
Love it, and will remember it, when the hubby says no to the 4th!!! |
lol yeah.. I have been pushing to adopt a rescue yorkie. |
