How do you feel about greenies? I have never bought greenies before because I am worried about giving them to Deegan. I worry about him choking on them. Have you tried them and have you had any problems with them? Please let me know about your experiences with them. |
Yoda loves his greenies! I know that there are some controversial issues regarding these treats. I checked with Yoda's Dogtor and he said they are fine to give if your dog is not a gobbler, meaning they do not swallow food whole. :) |
Gus loves them! If your worried about your baby choking, get the Lil bits. I got both the bits and the petite ones and he does just fine with them. |
My dogs love greenies, but I only give them to them when we are going to be with them while they chew them. I never give them to them before going out. |
I have mixed feelings on Greenies, for my yorkies I think they are fine if like the above posters said your dogs are not gulpers. But will add that I have had bad a experience before with Greenies when my boxer swallowed a huge piece of one and it was stuck in her tummy for three days making her very sick before it came back up. So I give them to my yorkies with supervision but not my medium sized breed dog. |
SNoodles absolutely loves his Greenies! Being as she only weighs 3#, I cut the petite ones in fours. Half of the big part of the brush and half of the handle of the brush. She knows when 8 o'clock is coming around, and always sits by my chair whining. Then she will throw it in the air, hide it in the cushion of the couch, and finally eat it. Always be there when they eat it though just in case. My vet could not believe how good her teeth were. I know it is because of the Greenies! My daughter's dog had terrible breath and teeth discoloring, and started on the greenies and she is amazed at the difference. and no smelly breath anylmore! It's a great product! Pat |
I think Greenies have some sort of "doggie crack" in them. LOL. Katia gets so excited she literally shakes when she smells them. |
I was kinda unsure at first but i decided to give bentley one and he loved them! So i just let him chew on them and when they start to get small i take them away and give him a new one. |
Go for Greenie Lil Bits! I would def be careful w/ the greenies. I've seen, read and heard of someone horrible incidents that stemmed from them. But like almost everyone elses babies mine enjoys them too. Except I only feed him what I think is called "Greenie Lil Bits" which are for puppys but I'll continue feeding them until he's 18 young if they keep him safer than the regular size and toothbrush shaped ones! lol So if your darlin ADORES the greenies then I would definately check out the little tiny bits. (they're great bc you don't have to worry about your baby biting off and swallowing too big a piece and perhaps choking or getting it caught in his dig. track) I bought mine at Petsmart and they came in a little baggy for about a dollar. Oh yea and I only give them to him in small amounts and only if he's been an exceptionally good boy! They're also EXCELLENT for training! And I agree w/ katia'smommy.. I think they are some kind of "doggie crack" too! :D Here's some! http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/p...d_id=355&Page= LeeAnn <3 Harley |
YES YES YES. the greenie bits work awesome for training! |
Toto loves them too!! She knows the rattle of the Greenie bag so I put them in airtight jars ... yep, she knows how the jar sounds too!! :) She doesn't get one every day and we always watch her until it's all gone! ;) ... and .... the next day .... green poop!! |
I just started giving Starsky greenies and he loves them!!!! He and my Beagle will share rawhides and bully sticks, but when Starsky gets a greeine, watch out! NO sharing from him. Maybe even some growls to my Beagle for even trying to get it. It takes Starsky awhile to eat his, Haggis has his down in 5 minutes flat! I am always watching both them eat their greenies; no choking here! |

I think you are right!! |
We've had good luck with them, Yoda has always loved his. But as with any treat, please watch them carefully if you do use them, as there have been Yorkie deaths because of them. If your Yorkie GULPS down chunks of food regularly, I think Greenies may be a bad idea for them... |
Yes, those little "Gulpers" definately exist. As a matter of fact there's one upstairs asleep in his crate right now named Harley! lol That's why we only enjoy the greenie lil bits. Owners REALLY need to be careful, you might not even realize that your baby is a gulper until they're choking and you're going bizerck w/ no clue what to do! And most likely it will happen to you @ 2am! So just keep a really close look on your little furbaby. Consider them (as most of us do!) your furry little two yr old child! 24/7 care!
