Walking Yorkie Puppy and Large Dog I have a 9 year old lab who loves going for walks and want to get my puppy to enjoy them as well. It is very hard to walk both dogs together, I'm nervous I'm going to lose my grip with Mack (the puppy). I was wondering if anyone has any advice if a coupler leash would work and what size and type? |
I haven't looked at them for a long time so maybe it would work but seems like the difference in height and gait would not allow for a coupler leash. I had two large dogs I walked together but I still used separate leashes. Now with my Yorkies one is very tiny so I carry her while walking the other. |
I would not recommend using a coupler as stated above. I put my Yorkie in a harness and then tie a knot in the lead to make the hand hold part smaller so if I do loose my grip, the lead cannot easily slip off my hand. |
I would reccomend starting to walk one dog on each side with the leashes shorten. Put the dog that need more control on your strong side, like on the right if your right handed. Try to keep them by you side and not let them get in front of you because they can get tangled up. |
