Got a new puppy.. my yorkies are going crazy.. HELP!!! I have two yorkies and their 4 years old. I just got a new puppy 3 days ago and my their not accepting the new pup. My girl is ok about it, she could be next to the new pup. The new puppy wants to play all the time and she growls/snaps at him constantly. My boy on the other hand.. he doesn't want to be nowhere near the new pup.. he hides in the corner.. somewhere high where the new pup can't get to him. I don't know what to do about this. Any suggestions would help.. Thanks! |
I think you need more than 3 days for your two 4yr old to adjust to your new baby. Actually an older dog does not like to be jumped on by a puppy. Some will correct the pup with a nip other's may do more so you really need to be careful. I would keep them apart for certain until they get accustomed to the pup being around. Then I would sit on the floor with one dog at a time and try to get them used to it being around. It will be hard for the puppy not to jump on them so maybe other's with experience will help you. |
Try googling it. There's lots of really good information on the internet. Here is just one example: How to Introduce Your Puppy to the Older Resident Dog | eHow.com Michele :-) |
Give it time and make sure that if you have to go out that you crate your puppy to keep it safe and give the other dogs some peace and it will settle down.:animal-pa |
Thanks.. that site was very helpful. I'm just scared my dogs will get depressed or think they are being replaced. I will give some time and hopefully things will adjust. |
