Need advice I currently have 2 roommates that love and adore my yorkie and he is very attached to them. I'm going to be moving this summer and will be living by myself, I'm afraid he will be depressed since my roommates aren't around. Does anybody have any sugesstions or ideas that could ease the transition for him? |
I would give him lots of extra attention,I don't know how old he is so it could be quite scary for him with new surroundings. Can you still visit your room mates so he can still see them as im sure they are going to miss him as well. Good luck with the move.:D |
Maybe the old roomies will be able to visit often at the beginning and then they can slowly visit less and less and ease him into it slowly:luvu: Congratulations and Good Luck in your new apartment!! |
I'd take your little yorkie with you to your new apartment as soon as you can and let him start getting use to the new place> When you move you will have your things , this will help your dog at least know that the smells are the same. Have your roomates scents on some of your furniture. This will provide comfort to your dog. And allow your friends to come and visit too. Spend a lot of extra time with your Dog , he will be ok, but will need your help. |
Time for #2?? He's gonna need a playmate! :D |
Are you in a position in which you could get another pup to keep him company? Hey, I see you're in OK, too! Welcome to YT! |
I wish I could get another yorkie, I think I will eventually because he loves other dogs, but its just not realistic right now. My roommates will come visit and I will take him to visit them. I'm just really hoping he won't be depressed or start to get anxiety. I think the idea about bringing some of their things will help, good idea (He loves their socks, lol). |
