Bella is home and resting
 
After getting spayed....She seems to be doing ok. Shes still groggy. I have her in her xpen with her blankets.
She had a little water, but not really intersested in drinking. I keep offering though. They said no food for the rest of the day. Is that normal?
She'll start an antibiotic tomorrow for 3 days....
They ended up pulling 3 teeth.
Everything seems good to go right now...I just feel bad for her
I miss her jumping up on me and following me around:(

Anything I should know? Things to look for?

Just be prepared that she will not act like her self for about 24 hours. Milo stayed at the Vet when he got fixed but when he had his teeth cleaned he came home afterwards and I was not prepared to see him in the anathsia haze and it kinda freeked me out, but it was all normal. Just try to keep her calm and comfortable. You might want to put some ice cubes in the xpen so she can just lick them.

Didnt you say she hasnt ate already for a day and a half. I would definitely give her nutrical routinely if she still cant eat

Yeah, they had me withhold food for 24 hrs.
I dont have any nutrical. I dont even know if they have that here. If they do I would have to make a drive to the next town to the pet store and its already 8, so they are going to be closing.
What can I use as a substitute?

She is sleeping now. I check on her often. Thanks for the ice cube idea, Im going to do that. I keep offering water she had a little from the bowl but not much. I put my fingers in the bowl and she licks the water from the fingers.

Karo syrup would work or if you dont have that honey. Im just concerned her blood sugar will drop

If you dont have either of those pancake syrup will work also

Glad to hear she's home and resting, This will be a hard day for you, but try not to worry she will be up and running around again soon. I agree you need to find something to keep her blood sugar up.

Just a little bit every 3 hrs. If it was nutrical you would only give a pea size amount so it doesnt take much. Then feed her as soon as you can. I think she will be fine but its good to take precautions

It has been a looong day for me. I dropped her off this morning at 9 and picked her up at 5 and it felt like forever!

Im trying not to worry, everything seems good. Its probably going to be a long night. Ill be up checking on her all night. She normally sleeps with my husband I, but I dont know that would be the best thing for tonight.

I just gave her some karo. Not much, just a drop on my finger and she drank some water from the bowl. Its just making me so nervous...:(
Shes my everything, and I dont like seeing her this way.

I guess it could be normal that they said no food but here after a surgery we normally do a half meal that night if they are interested.

Jesse was spayed yesterday (Tuesday). She refused her puppy food last night so I fed her a little bit of mashed potatoes. She was extremely quiet all evening.
She is doing great today! She was her old self when she woke up this morning! I gave her the 1/2 of a pain pill that the vet prescribed & left her with my daughter today.
She was 5 months old yesterday & she weighs 5 lbs.

I'm glad she's back home with you! When Chelsea was spayed the dr told me to feed her a small meal that evening if she was interested, and to go back to her normal feeding the next morning. I'm sure she'll perk up soon!

Glad to read your baby is home with you. She will be sleepy for a while, it is good that you are offering water, I offered Jazzie a few dry kibbles as well and she ate as much as she wanted. The next day I could not believe my eyes, she was ready to run & play, of course I did not let her but it was amazing to see that she was feeling good, I don't even think she required pain meds. :eek: I wish I had felt that great after my hyst. :rolleyes:

This is what I was told to do with Missy as well. The vet said just not to give too much food because it may cause her to vomit from the anaesthetic.

Brandi was very groggy the first day I brought her home after her spayed but by the next day she was about 60% back to her self. The hard part was getting her to calm down because I didn't want her stitches to come loose. By the third day she was back to her old self. That was a month ago. Just make sure she doesn't get to excited, trying to run and jump when she is feeling better at least for a few days because of the stitches. Also I couldn't give Brandi a bath for at least 10 days. Lawd.....was she a little stinker.....couldn't wait to give her a bath:p.

Well, we made it through the night. I gave her a little kayro lastnight and then I offered a little kibble and she ate it.

I went ahead and put her in the bed with me. I didnt want her to be a lone..I put a pee-pad on the bed with one of her blankets over it and she slept right next to me all night.

This morning she has drank lots of water and I gave her food with her antibiotics and she was def hungry.
The one thing she hasnt done is potty...shes had enough water to need to pee and has yet to potty....:confused:

Shes slow getting around, takes a step and then sits down. But she is coming around. Thanks everyone for your concerns and advice!
