New Yorkie Mom!!! Hello - My name is ... well...a little obvious...lol....TRACI! Anyway, I went to look at some Yorkie pups today and I was so astonished at how sad he seemed, that I went ahead and bought him. I will be honest....I don't believe a word this man had to say. However, I am perfectly happy with my "runt" puppy as he called him. However, I am a little concerned that he is not as old as the gentleman said. Also, he is quite lathargic. I have an appointment in the morning at the vet to get his check up and have him looked over. He is supposed to be 6 weeks old. He has some tooth budding, but no teeth and his eyes still have that hazy blue look..... Any thoughts? Oh...I am anxious to be a part of the group and learn all I can about being a Yorkie mom!:) |
HI Tracy and Welcome, I to am a new Yorkie mom and Im sure lots of people will come here and help you.. Honestly from what I have read that is really really way to young to leave his momma... Some one on here can tell you exactly what to do but I do know that they need nutrical at that age... please come back so you can read what people recommend... he is really young to leave his mom. |
THank you so much! I had of course planned to become more educated prior to my purchase and figured I would just go to many different people to see puppies. This of course was my first person to see. I just felt so bad for him....I will post some photos!! I hope he will be fine and I am anxious for the help that the forum will offer. I appreciate any and all input I recieve to help save and nourish my little "Booger" as I so affectionately call him. |
Okay - I spoke to a breeder and he told me all the things to do to make sure my baby stays healthy until we get to the vet tomorrow! I have given him some Karo syrup and just got through giving him 3ccs of Pedialite! Thank you Tiny Paw Prints of San Antonio!! :D |
Just wanted to say Hello and Welcome you new YorkieTalk. Congratulations on your new furbaby. :) Hope all goes well. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Wish you much luck and sending prayers for you and your new babydog... Please update after your vet appt. |
Welcome Traci and good luck with your new baby. |
Thank you Lisa! I have never been around so many good folks who are willing to help someone like me! I am no Yorkie expert for sure!! My thing is horses! lol....well regardless as to whether my little Booger is quality or not, I will love him and care for him to the best of my ability. I do wish I would have had to the chance to become more educated prior to my purchase, but I guess the Good Lord thought Booger needed some TLC! He should absolutely NOT be aoff his mother yet...I was completely unaware of this as most puppies are weaned at 6 weeks. But thanks to everyones help, I think he will be fine! Thank ya Jesus!!! (and Yorkie Talk!!! :D) |
Gosh.....thank you EVERYONE!! ;) |
Traci, that is too young 6 weeks. Gosh, that baby should still be with mom, shame on that man breeder. I would report him....Go buy some puppy goat milk and soften his hard food with warm goat milk. Make sure its mushy cause this guy has no teeth. Keep him warm. Do you have some nutrical...? He needs to eat every 3 hours. What kind of dry food are you feeding? Let us know. We will help you....Lissette |
