New Move On May 31st, I will be moving into a new house that I will be renting from another girl. She also has a small yorkie. Peka (my baby) has been around other dogs before and gets along great with most, but never another yorkie. I have a little girl who is fixed, and my future house mate has a little boy who isn't fixed. Peka is 21 months old, and Mac is 17 months old. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any head's up for reactions or things too look out for? I'm sure it wont be all fun and games but I'm hoping they can play together and keep eachother company. Peka will have the upstairs to herself, and Mac the downstairs, however there will be some mingling. I have been over working on painting the room, etc getting it ready for the move, and have let them meet. Mac loves her and follows her around and can not stop wanting to play with her and sniffing her (obviously). Peka is a little caught off guard and I suppose annoyed? It's kind of funny. Just wanted to know how I can make this move easier on her. Peka + Mac = ??? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!! |
I think it sounds like it's going well. I would just continue to let them be together as much as possible, watch that one doesn't bully the other, give them time to work it out, but remember you & your roomie are the pack leaders and make sure that they both know that neither of you will tolerate any bad behavior. If there is a dog park close by that you can take them to play loose together that'd would maybe help too. Someplace neutral, that neither one will feel is 'their turf'. Good Luck! |
