a dog with 3 week old puppies should be confined to a small area WITH her puppies. There should not be another adult dog in there with them. |
My girl just had her puppies nine weeks ago and I noticed the same thing with her about her potty habits. Although she wasnt an angel by any means anyway, we already had issues. Seemed like she had to pee ALL the time while she nursed, so the best thing to do, in my opinion, is take her outside much more often. It seemed as though she was going pee at least every 45 minutes. It has slowed down a bit now, but we are still about every hour or so. And she is still pottying in the house. Unfortunately she will not use the potty pads like the puppies do, so my unfinished hardwood floors get the "royal treatment." And now my house smells like a barn, even with the gallons of Nature's Miracle I have purchased. There is another product I would like to try that is called Zero Odor, but I haven't yet. I was trying to put diapers on her now that nursing is over, but she has figured out how to wiggle out of them even with clothes on over top. Sorry I am not much help, I just wanted you to know that you are not alone, and I was told it can be an issue bacause of the nursing. :( |

momma dog may need to go more as shes licking off excrement from babys she needs more care ! use the freebie papers cover the floors with them they are FREE then ball them up toss them change the garbage take it out it thats easy and faster than puppy pads! momma dog cant help it doesnt know any better and most likely doesnt want to go to far away from the new babys! |
I think she might be afraid to get too far away from her babies, and that something might happen to them is she does. I would try moving her to a more confined area, and in an area she can't get out of. Then you would have to get her and put her out yourself, but it would be better than the smell you'll end up with!! |
