9 week old humping The new pup has been here 2 days. Yesterday I noticed he started to hump some of the teddy bears and blankets, then he tried to hump my sister and my husbands hands. He hasnt done it to me. I realise its probably a dominance thing at this stage, but how should I stop it, and how much of it should I stop. I suppose its just a natural urge, so should I let him do it to the bears, as long as he doesnt do it to people. I wonder if its because he is in new territory? He is a real wee terror at the minute..:D I know neutering is supposed to help, but I am not sure if I will have him neutered. Since Millie died after her spay, I have been doing more research. I think if I had another female, I would get her spayed, which is why I got a male this time. I couldnt go through the anxiety of another spay. Anyway, I think the health benefits of neutering the male are less obvious, and the side effects possibly outweigh the benefits. I think it is more of a convenience and lifestyle choice for owners, so that they dont have to deal with humping and marking. (Apart from the obvious argument of unwanted puppies, but my dogs never have/will be around other dogs unsupervised). |
Neutering doesnt necessarily stop them from humping. My Chachi has a bear that he humps. I would not let him hump humans. When he does say no and take your arm or leg away so he cant hump it. |
