Can someone show me this? "A puppy that has a wiry coat texture, with a tan that is a very bright red gold by four to five months, will as an adult do one of two things: First, if the puppy as it approaches five or six months, or at least by nine months, shows the transition from black to blue, the coat texture will soften to a silky texture. If the black coat does not show this transition to blue, the adult dog will retain the wiry coat which will never attain any great length. " What do they mean by transition from black to blue? What does blue look like? Im sorry if this is a stupid question but Im assuming they dont actually mean the color blue. My Yorkies hair is course and isnt very soft. When i part her hair i see some grayish/white color coming thru. |
Puppies have a true black coat, some dogs retain this color as they get older, and it's always a true black. Blue is an odd color to describe, but it is the color breeders strive for, it's sometimes described as a gunmetal grey, it's not a true black, but a metallic looking black. There's no blue in it, but the way the light reflects off it, it different than a black black. In other words, if the puppy starts getting this metalic looking color that is lighter than black black, it will get the silky coat. |
so...maybe? Arizona is 4.5 months old and is starting to show some grayish on the very top of her hair and seems to be slowly going down her head. Her back still shows very black. I was afraid she was one of the red legged yorkies that werent going to grow her hair but she is starting to change colors. |
