a couple of questions What is a belly band?? and I was watching a video here at YT in which the furbaby jumped up in the guy's lap and was all over his face (when the guy had gotten home). My baby does this as well...licks and nibbles my face and nose when I get home (if I get close enough LOL). I haven't ever had a dog do this before--is this something that is particular to yorkies?? |
A belly band is a wrap to prevent a dog for marking in the home, or even to prevent accidents from going anywhere. For your second question, i've found the little dogs do this but I think it's because they can. You less likely to ask a tiny dog to back down then if you had a lab or something trying to come up in your face as enthusiastically as these little ones do. |
Oh my........ yes, the "kisses" are always abundant here, too. Shelby & Seymour are always very affectionate..... especially just before they go to sleep! |
Thank you. I should've asked about the belly bands a long time ago instead of just wondering. And if I'd thought about it, the kissy part makes sense, too. I've apparently never had a kissy dog before, period.:p |
If you have any separation-anxiety issues with your dog -- i.e., them throwing a fit when you leave home or tearing things up while you're gone -- consider not letting them shower you with affection the second you come home. Instead, walk in casually, mostly ignoring them, before showing them any attention. The reason is if your return is cause for so much rewarded excitement, they are going to miss you even more when you leave. That said, I showered mine with praise for the first year of his life, and he didn't have any problems. You'll probably be just fine enjoying those Yorkie kisses. And belly bands are the way to go if you're in an absolutely-no-pee situation. |
