How many times have you been away from your Yorkie(s) overnight? I just found out I have to make a business trip in a couple of weeks, a minimum of one night, but maybe two away from the girls. I have arranged for my girls to "camp" out with my vet. I'm already stressing about it. I have never been away from them except for their surgeries (spay, LP) and since I got Holly, have never been without more than one of them overnight. I know I won't sleep well while I am away. How many times have you had to be away from your Yorkies overnight and how did you cope? I'm going to miss my little girls so very much. |
I have never been away overnight from them, but my husband desperately wants to go to Arizona in June as we haven't been on a vacation in 20plus years. I don't know if I can do it. So I know how you feel. My 23 year old dtr will be home with them and my nephew to help her as she isn't good with clean up!!lol. I think they would be fine but I don't know if I will be. I hope you get some positive feedback so we can feel better. |
I think 4 times- I had a bachelorette party in Toronto, went to the Dominican to teach, went to visit Suzy in IA and then just 2 weeks ago i was away for TWO weeks to score Literacy tests. BUT she is with my parents- i know she is fine but I am a mess- i call a lot- i worry that she isnt' eating or she got into something (My mom is much more lax with her) I am SURE it will be harder on you than it is on the girls. |
i leave her on some nights when i go home for the weekends.my mom loves to have her and its just easier than taking her to my dads with 2 lil kids and a crazy maltipoo. Im constantly worried but bailee loves staying with my mom.Itll be harder on you than them |
She was at the vets for almost a month and it was hard as heck! |
Occasionally I am without Ellie for a night or two but twice I have left her for two weeks. That was very hard and I feel horrible to do that to her. We got through it though. :) |
In March I was in the Hospital for 9 days. In ICU I couldn't call home, But, when I got transfered to another room I called Baron @ night to say Good-Night to him. My Room-mates thought that I was CRAZY...I talked to my Husband and Daughters and Gr.Son Too!!! :p Rory said that Baron would get all excited, I could hear him sniffing the phone. We're going to Arkansas on Sunday and the 2 boys are going with us. I was away enough this year. I missed his little face and his falling asleep in my arms way too much. I love my Baron with ALL my heart!! :D |
I've left Jackson twice. Each time for four nights in a row. I've only had him since December. He's in good hands when I leave but I always worry because no one takes as good care of him as me! LOL. He's always fine - I'm a mess. |
I have never been away from Winston for the night. Geez, I guess I need a life... |
I have been away from Nolee numermous times! He stays with my daughter sometimes, but mostly I board him in a private suite. Its hard every time. I don't think it will ever be easy to leave him! |
I have been away from Tobey a few times for about a week each time. The first time was the hardest but I was going on a paid trip to the Bahamas so it's not like I could turn that down:p I was most worried that he would think I abandoned him and that he would forget about me. However, I have learned that he is just fine and remembers me when I get home. The past two times I think have actually been good for him because he stayed with my parent's neighbors who have 2 little dogs of their own so he had buddies for the week. |
First, enjoy your trip, even if its business...! I'm sure your furbaby will be fine:) you will certainly receive a wonderful welcome home!!!! We have been away for a long week (8 days) and a weekend and we will be away later this month for another weekend and a week We generally try to travel with him, but with my business sometimes it is unavoidable and he must stay home... I was horribly worried at first, but have "broken in" my sitters, and we are now good to go. I have an array of family | friends that are ready and willing to watch him. It just comes down to scheduling and who will work best with the timeframe in question. One thing that seems to help....I've tried to make sure that he spends lots of time with us, at their homes, while we are around so that when he is on his own with them it is not totally new. They are all "schooled" in his diet, and his habits... The grandparents are the first choice because when he is with them he will never be alone (like with us). I have three friends on the "2nd tier" list - they all work, so he will have to be alone during the day, which - while not desirable, is something which which he can deal (which is the only reason I call them "2nd tier")... they all love him to pieces.... I have never boarded him, and while I have looked into it as an absolute stop-gap plan, I am hopeful I won't have to exercise it I have to say, tho, that I have found one really unique boarding place relatively close to home. They seem like they are really focused on a positive experience... I plan to go visit just to investigate so I will know for sure.. I imagine your furbaby will be fine..... perhaps if you check in while away it will help ease your mind!!! |
just got home from 4 days away and we needed to get away just the 2 of us frist time in 8 years with out taking our yorkies .My husband was needing sometime that he could have me all alone ,and not have to share me with the babys so i agreed after much stulling ,we had our son come and stay at the, house ,he is great with all of them and i did not want to disrupt there routine .they we really good they slept with him all but Sadie who slept at the patio door and didnt eat for the frist 2 days but after that she was good .i think i missed them as much as they missed me i got the best face wash from all 4 at the same time . would i do it again yes if they were at home but it wont be anytime soon lol |
I've never left Punky anyplace. I've only had her since halloween. Even when she was spayed, I took her in the morning and picked her up in the evening. I've had Shelby for over 6 years and have left her a couple of times. Once I left her and my last little Yorkie, Ruby, and when I got back they let it slip that Ruby had gotten out and they had to chase her down the street to catch her. This was at a Vets office. Needless to say, I never left them there again. |
I've only been away from my yorkie for 9 days after about a month and a half of her joining my life. I was on vacation with some family members. She was with her daddy the entire time, so she was never alone. He took her everywhere with him 24/7 too. I called or he called, and we also SMS'd. I came back to an ungroomed, wet-dog smelling happy little baby. :) |
