Bailey is barking! Does anyone have experience with their yorkie barking uncontrollably at pet birds? My yorkie, Bailey, never noticed my parents birds (for approx. 2 years) and then all of a sudden...everytime she is at their house, that is all she focuses on. Barking uncontrollably, jumping up & kicking their cages. We have tried telling her NO!, ignoring her, even barricading the area where the cages are...any suggestions?:( |
Don't have personal experience with birds but I started with Jackson when he was very young with shaking a can filled with pennies and then saying "NO" whenever he barks. Just fill up a can with some coins and have it around all the time. They don't like noise it makes and it distracts them from their thoughts! Then reward them when they stop barking! |
Thanks...i'll try that!:) |
You're welcome! Let us know how it goes! It's worked wonders for Jackson! While he's not perfect and will occasionally bark still, it's pretty easy for me to get him to stop by just saying "No! quiet!" |
I have the pennies in a bottle too. Do you think it may scare the birds? My other "tool" that I use is a spray bottle. I just give them a squirt and say NO. Now all I have to do is reach towards the spray bottle and everyone stops barking. Good luck. Michele :-) |
