My female dry humps her teddy bear???is this possible Ok so I know it is normal for MALE dogs to try to hump some oft heir toys or teddy bears. But mine is a female and there is this one and only teddy bear that is on our bed and everything she comes up on the bed she goes straight for it and it looks like she is trying to hump it? does this makes sence? I did'nt know female dogs did this? Has this happen to anyone before?. It is not excesive or anything it looks like she does it a couple time then just plays with that teddy bear like any other toy. If anyone has any feedback or stories of their own let me know. I thought it was supper strange when i saw her do that. thanks:) |
This is normal behavior. It's their way of showing 'dominance' over something. In their little worlds there isn't much they CAN dominate, so I've never seen the harm in lettling them be the boss of pillows, stuffed animals, etc. Besides, I think it's cute! |
I thought that when Tia first done it. I thought she was going through some sexual crisis lol. To be honest we laughed at first but we now tell her NO and its not a problem she stops immediately. Its about dominance not sex.Even though its not pleasent to look at especially if nanny is round and looks over her knitting and sees that display.Seriously ,its nothing to worry about but nip it in the bud now.:D |
LOL thanks alot guys, i knew male did it but not female...it makes total sence! she never humps it more then a few times when she sees it so by the time i even react she is done. It didnt/don't bother me i just wanted to make sure it was normal.. |
It's very normal... |
Thanks, my little girl do the same thing and I was wondering about it also. |
I used to have a friend who's tiny 3 pound Yorky humped a stuffed dog they called had called Humphry or Henry or something like that. Back then I just thought it was because she was in heat, now I know it is because of dominance, even though she dominated the schnouzer and sheetzou too ;) |
My mom's female dog used to hump a lot!! She hasn't done in over a year though, she's now 4 years old. |
let em have some fun |
Rosie does it all the time but instead of a stuffed bear she uses a stuffed beaver. Haha! We said no to her so many times that now she takes the beaver to the other room or behind the couch so we don't see her. I guess she wants some privacy:p |
For the longest I was convinced that Bree was a male because she always humped her bed, her stuffed animal, and my nephew's south park slippers. I had never seen a female dog hump anything before until I got her. |
I'M NOT ALONE!!! YAY! Ms. Peka is horrible. She had a rope that her previous owners had brought her during her 'transferring' to live with me, and that turned into her favorite toy, and she humped it all the time!! Whenever I would see her or HEAR her doing this, I would tell her NO really quickly and she would stop, it was hard though because I would start laughing hysterically. My mother came to visit a few weeks ago and said that every time I would turn my back, Peka would start humping her toy, but as soon as I would turn around, she would stop and look at me. She knows better but does it anyways. I accidentally threw away that toy (long story) but was kind of glad that now the humping would be done..I got a few replacement toys, one being "Mr. Monkey", which is now her ultimate favorite toy..that she humps. It never ends. Thats why I am a little curious as to what will happen now that we will be living with another boy dog who isn't fixed (she is though). Who will dominate who and will they try to hump each other?! |
