How did you get them to like clothes? The reason I ask is because I've been dressing London since I got her at 10 weeks so i thought she should be used to it but she hates wearing dresses. If I put them on her she pouts and doesnt move, she doesnt mind t-shirts as much though..but Sophie did not mind any clothes at all, she carried on as normal whatever i put on her and i got her at 6 mos old. So i guess im asking for those that like wearing clothes...when did you start dressing them and how did you get them to like it? |
When we started Suri she was so little she had to wear clothes or see would be super cold. So she liked to be dressed since she was cold and we started her at 8 weeks. Now bows took a little more convincing. I had to start with rubber bands and eventually she just stood there and knew it was going to happen. Plus she liked getting the hair out of her face. |
Maxi started wearing clothes since he was a puppy. He also at first was fighting it. Then he would not move if I wear something new on him. It would always take time to get use to new clothing. Then I figured something out. Every time I would wear something new on him, we would immediately go for a walk. The walks eventually made him forget about what he was wearing. Now anytime he wears something he does not care at all. ;) |
You might ask yourself why you want her to wear dresses. She is a dog, and they weren't exactly created to wear clothes. It's we humans who want to treat them like little dolls. God gave them the covering they need, we really don't need to add anything to it. If she's content to wear the t-shirts try to find a t-shirt that fits your idea of cute and then you're both happy. |
I have found that after I put a dress on them, I make a big fuss and tell them how pretty they look. I have done this for quite a while, and now when they see I have made another dress, they all line up to see who can try it on. |
Laci just liked them it was pretty cute she will actually lift her little paws to put on a dress or shirt and help me its pretty cute:D |
I started putting them on about 3 or 4 mos. They were both okay with clothes |
Charlie never has minded wearing clothes, but Oliver hates it! He acts like he is broken! He has done this since he was a tiny baby. When he was a baby, I used to put his collar on around the house to try to get him used to it (it was a tiny litte kitty cat collar mind you!). He honestly would drag his head on the floor --- like this bitty little break-away kitty collar was 100 lbs!! He's VERY dramatic! I've almost given up on clothes, but he will wear the collar now. |
Gwen started wearing clothes as soon as I got her as she was much too little not to wear anything. She likes certain clothing but hates others, she likes her sweaters and dresses and ONE pair of pajamas but if you put on her fleece jammies that Grandma made her, or a baby onesie she will just lay there and not move. I think it all depends on the dog, she doesn't like her hind legs to be restricted or her tail but if those are free to move as she likes, then she is fine, plus it helps if it's colder outside for me to put them on....but if she wears them for a bit (other than onesie or fleece jammies) she will get mad when you take them off, she will wear a few dresses until they are FILTHY if you let her and try to nip or fight when you try to take them off. So I normally take her clothes off and give her a bath and then her grooming then she forgets about it lol. Or I just put another dress on if she still pouts. |

Princess has always dressed up, we started when she was a puppy, she loves t-shirts. She has to have soft dresses or she will pitch a fit and try and take it off. I had one really pretty dress for her, it had some kind of skirt under it, kind of net fabric, once I took that off she loved to wear that dress, I think the fabric made her itchy. She has lots of t-shirt dresses that she really likes. Not sure how I got her to like them she just goes along with whatever I put on her. Try and see if you can find really soft dresses, it might help. Hat's is a different story, she has lots of cute ones, but she hates them all. :2hearts2: . |
Jackson has never been dressed up. When I first got him at 9 weeks old, I tried to put a jacket on him because I thought he would be cold.... nope. He refused to move in the coat. I didn't really want to dress him up anyways! I don't find a need for it. He ran around in a foot of snow perfectly fine! |

I have three. Two Girls and a boy. But Teddy the boy, is just as anxious to try things on, as the girls. It is really funny. Check out my photo albumn. |
I really only have 1 that is totally against wearing clothes..with a name like "Diva", you'd think she'd want to prounce around in the best duds out there...lol. I've been using the harness vests for walks which is about 3 to 4 times a day and since they are 1/3 fabric, I think that has helped making the tranisition to clothes when I want put something on easier....oh, except Diva...but then again, she doesn't walk on a harness or anything. i just don't think she wants anything covering her hair...so maybe "Diva" is the right name for her...LOL :p |
Tia started wearing clothes from a pup too so she is no problem.I say clothes but it was a little coat when I first got her as it was darn freezing here in the U.K in October. Her first and only dress was worn at xmas and her T.shirt was worn to cover her stitches after her spay. Her hair is so pretty at the moment I dont want to cover it up lol |
