BTW for those of you who ask I am going to post pics of my babies as soon as I get my digi cam back from my sis-in-law who borrowed it. |
I had read they were poisonous to pets and babies so I got rid of mine and bought one of the Steam Mops advertised on TV. They are in a lot of stores now too. They are wonderful! They clean with nothing but water. Plug it in and you have almost instant steam which takes up everything from the floor with no worries about residue. |
This has been posted several times before. It is an urban legend. Go ahead and keep your Swiffers. :) |
I had read that before also. So now I use Method cleaning supplies for my hardwood floors and other cleaning items. I don't want to subject anyone, babies, animals, or sensitive adults to possibly hazardous chemicals! They should have looked into that before putting it on the market! |

It does contain the products used in anti-freeze but at the levels it contains them it is not toxic. Here is what ASPCA said about it... ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center Responds to Swiffer Wet Jet Rumor |
I don't have a swiffer just to let everyone know lol.. I use Clorox Green products for the floor. |
Also, contrary to the email's first sentence, Snopes states that this is a false rumor. snopes.com: Swiffer WetJet Pet Danger Anyone who has a Swiffer wetjet, please feel free to read the bottle. You will not find any warning about pets listed. Let's all keep our babies safe, but remember at the same time, let's remember that not every email sent is truthful. :) |
I use a steam mop because: no chemicals, washable pads, only weighs 3 pounds, no smell and cleans GREAT............I may be their next commercial....lol. |
I have also heard that this is an urban legend. Since then I have continued to use my swiffer wet jet with no problems. But I would like to change to something all natural. Does anyone know of a all natural steamer or mop that is cordless and has disposable pads? |
For those of us who have a wet jet and don't want to take chaces when it's time to buy a refill just buy a product you feel is safe and fill up the bottle with it I also like the clorox green products. |

Im gonna do that!!!! Thanks!!! |
Thank you Thanks for the warning.....thats why I love my steam mop.....NO chemicals at all |
I've been wanting a steam mop so bad. You know rumor or not I really don't like the idea of Roxie walking into chemicles of any kind and if I can avoid it then I do. How many people wear gloves to protect their hands from cleaners? We should also protect the pads of our dogs feet from them by not letting them walk in it. It's better to be as safe as possible because you just never really know what is in a product. |
Thanks for sharing this, I try and use all organtic and pet safe everything in my home.. |
