Size... Does the size of your baby ever scare the hell out of you? Chloe just seems so fragile to me and I'm afraid of breaking her sometimes. Last weekend I was a horrible mommy and I turned my back to her for one second to grab something behind me and she fell off the counter :embarasse She went stiff and started making a horrible gargling sound... her eyes rolled back in her head and her tongue was hanging out. I've never been so terrified in my life. I scooped her up and ran out the door barefoot wearing nothing but a bathrobe... I looked crazy but I got her to the vet asap. Luckily she just had a concussion and no major injuries. After that incident I've been so paranoid about her getting hurt. Does anyone else feel this way? |
I know EXACTLY how you feel First, glad your little one is doing fine. Its always terrrifying when they get hurt. I have a 91 pound GSD, a 19 pound yorkie and now a 3 pound baby boy. And the little one totally attacks the german shepherd and irritates the other (senior citizen) yorkie to the point I am sure one of them is going to swallow him whole. And I am constantly terrified of sitting on him. I have a "chaise" that I sit on in the evenings to watch TV. We built him little steps so he could go up and down. Well if I even LOOK at my chair he scampers up the stairs and I am sure that one day I am going to sit down and he will end up under me. But, the good news is they are generally tough lil things, and as long as you are vigilant (not leaving them in the bath, shuffling your feet so you don't step on them, checking your seat first) its probably all going to work out. I'm not very yorkie educated, I didn't know they could grow to 19 pounds... My oliver is 20 pounds and I was told he was a yorkie/shih tzu and I've assumed he was something else b/c of his size... guess it just depends on the dog!! How old is your baby? Chloe plays with Oliver and she always makes this horrible screaming sound even when he isnt touching her hah I cant ever tell if they are playing or trying to kill each other! |
I know how you feel. I have a 41/2 mth old yorkie that weighs 1.10lbs. When ever I sit on the couch she wants up there with me and I have to remember to put her down when I get up or she will jump. She has NO fear:rolleyes: If the door bell rings I have to put her down or she will jump. She jumped one and was limping. Within an hour she was fine thank goodness. She worries me to death. I have 2 other yorkies around 4 lbs. and they can jump, but they seem so big compared to her. I still worry about them too. |
Thank goodness your sweet baby is okay! I think if I were you, I wouldn't let her on the counter. These little rascals aren't afraid to jump off of anything. |
She was up there b/c that's where I groom her and it was my fault for giving her a split second alone :( |
Zoe is about 5.5 pounds right now. There are definately some days that I look at her and freak a bit at how small she is! I totally worry about her all the time! She's not the smartest so sometimes she'll just be ... not smart  and get hurt, but so far it's been very minor things. :( Like she runs to me as I'm walking over something and runs in to my foot coming down.... (or shifting to get comfy and rolling herself off the couch! A minor thud, once a small yelp, and no damage done....) All the same I know I worry! |
I am glad Chloe was able to heal from her head injury. How scar y that must of been for you! I am still very scared when Suzi goes on the Balcony with me, even when she is supervised! She is around 8 lbs I think, and a handful! Suzi could easily fally through the bars , but she won't go down the cemented stairs> I have caught her Standing up on her hind legs on one of the posts! I have no idea why? What the heck is she doing? Suzi enoys bird watching, cat watching, people watching, you name it she is there! It scares the hell out of me each time we are there. When her nails are slightly longer and need to be clipped , she slides too. :eek:Your in good company !our yorkies do scare the crap out of us at times! :( |
How awful for you, glad she is OK. And things like that make me very happy Jackson is a healthy 13 pounds! He is so much more study and I don't have to worry about him as much. |
