HeatherHamptons Question: Color Change After Spaying? HeatherHamptons says hello to everyone on YT and that she misses you all. She still does not have a working computer and Internet connection, but hopefully she'll be back on YT in a month or so... :) But she had a question regarding spaying. After Angel got spayed, her coat changed a lot. She used to be blue/silver, but now her back is completely black. She got spayed a few months ago, and she is 15 months old now. She wanted to know if that was normal or not... I'll be calling her later this week to let her know what replies she gets. Thanks! That is strange, I have never heard of this,,,curious to hear the responses... |
After Gioia was spayed , her coat changed for the better . |
Olivier: How did her coat change? Do you mean it was more silky afterwards? Did Gioia's color change too? Thanks! |
After Katie was spayed, her coat changed and it looks MUCH better now. |

Do their colors change because of the spaying or is it just that the age that they are spayed goes along with the age of color change? If it is with the spaying that's kinda strange, I never knew that. I don't think Reagan changed too much but I didn't know to watch for it. She's changing now, she's lightening up a bit on her back mainly up around her neck, she'll be a year old in a month and was spayed at 6 months. |
I know I've never heard of this before. I'm like you...I would think it is the age thing rather than spaying. |
I'm not sure either. My husband talked to a gentlemen once that was a trucker making a delivery where he works at. Anyway the reason why he talked to him my husband walked outside and saw a yorkie running around so, he went over to talk to the gentleman and he was telling my husband that his dog had to have surgery because he jumped off of a piece of furniture and landing the wrong way and broke his leg and that as a reslut of him being in shock he turn a silver color from black. |
When a female is spayed , the spaying do stop the hormone flow . If someone observe closely the coloring of an adult unspayed female , they will see that she tends to be paler as she grow older or have litters of pups . |

ooh...That makes sense. So if you wait til later on in a females life would that have any affect on color change? Maybe they would have already changed so it wouldn't affect them? Or maybe they need the horomones to maintain a certain color not just change so it would still affect them? This is actually kinda interesting, you learn something new everyday don't ya. |
