Skin problems Please help me! My Yorkie is 18 months old, and he has very very dry skin and scratches all the time. I have taken him to 2 different vets, but they don't seem to know or care about his problem. First he was diagnosed with food allergies, we change his food many many times, he is a very picky eater. Then he was diagnosed with flee allergies, he hardly gets them, since we spray the back yard every day with DOWN dish soap, we stop the medication for flees since the last 2 times I apply it to him, he got like pimples on his body, and I like to find more natural remedies, we have plant in the back yard basil, citronella, to help with bugs and make his life better, I have allergies my self and I know how bad he is feeling, and I wish I could help him. I live in a small town and the 2 vets are in different addresses but work together. Please help me! I like to see him relax and feeling well. Thanks Gina |
I am sorry your little one is having allergy problems. My Cali has them and I had to finally put her on a medicine called Atopica, I hated to put her on it but now she is much more comfortable. You could try adding Salmon Oil to his food to help with the dry skin. |
I also heard Olive Oil is good also. Also did you ever try tea tree oil shampoo or spray or any kind.I heard Tea tree oil will relief the itching. Hope this helps. |
Skin problems Thanks,:aimeeyork no I have not try any oils, but I will buy both of them and try, I hate to put him on a medicine regimen, I will try every thing natural. thanks a lot for responding, Gina:) |
Gina, you might also check the ingredients in his food; corn can really cause allergies. I feed mine Chicken Soup and they love it. I read where you've changed his food several times, what is he eating now? |
Skin problems he is now in Beneful Healthy radiance with real Salmon &wholesome Rice, Accented with Vitamin-Rich Vegetablesand Life"s Abundance Premium Health Food for puppies & adult dogs, HealthyPetNet The other brands where give it to me by the vet, can food, we have try a lot of different food. But I have not jet find nothing he really likes. Some times I feel he is not eating enough , so I cook for him, Ground meet with brown rice just with a little salt, nothing else. Before I was giving him Chicken Brest , but the vet told me is not good for him, so I stop giving to him.I have other dogs in the past, Peque who i bought believing he was a Fox-terrier , when I took him to the vet he let me know he was a moth, I didn't care, we got him as a pet, not for shows, and after seeing where they have him, I just could not live it there. He died on July 7, 2008 He was going to be 20 years old on July 20. But I have never have this problems with other pet. Like I said before, my sister owns the father and mother of mine, and they are perfectly healthy. Thanks for answering me, Gina |
