Need some experienced guidance, please Our vet does not want us to take our Yorkie to a groomer until she's had all her shots which we understand. However, I need to know about the hair between the pads of her feet. (Every time I try to search for the answer, I get pee pads...LOL) Our vet clipped a few of the nails when we were last at his office but I failed to ask anything about the hair/fur. Is there some rule of thumb you go by as to when you need to trim? Honestly, our Yorkie's fur is growing so fast, you'd think we were dipping her in Miracle Gro at night! (Well, all except that topknot hair that I'm still waiting on...) Thanks in advance for your advice/guidance... |
I don't know if there is a rule of thumb but I definitely trim the hair on their pads when it gets too long, if not, they slip and slide all over the place, making it more hazardous as I have hardwood floors all over. You can do it yourself, it's very easy and you also have to keep their nails shorter rather than long. good luck |
I trim that hair myself. Just be careful you don't cut the pads. It's really pretty simple. Good luck! |
A moustache trimmer works really well for trimming this hair and shouldn't cut the pads at all. Really simply to do pretty quickly. Just keep it up. |
rounded baby scissors. I trimmed my brand new puppy, frankie the day after we got him home. It helps to do it when they are sleepy. |
I tried doing it myself at first but when Riot went in for his third shots (first two were given at the breeder) they did a quick clean up there at the vet--clipped nails, trimmed his eyes, between the pads on his feet, rear, etc. They did his feet again at his last set of shots...I wonder if your vet has a groomer if you could just ask for a quick trim next time you're there? |
