First Grooming apt.. I am taking my 4 month old to her first grooming apt. I was wondering what to expect? They said it takes 2 - 3 hours? wow. |
Hi Mika, Had his 1st cut last Wednesday and I had to leave him for 2hrs.:D |
How long they stay depends on the particular groomer and how busy they are. It doesn't take 2 - 3 hours to groom one dog... I've gotten mine done in 3 hours and other times they've stayed there all day. |
Jackson is usually there from 9am-11am. It's not that it takes that long to groom HIM but sometimes the groomer can be really busy with the other dogs too. |
miss buffey gets the works and it only takes about one hour. i can sit and wait for her (and see everything they are doing - nothing is behind closed doors) or run errands and come back i was very nervous the first time too but she did great. the groomer says every time i go in how perfectly behaved she is. it makes me roll my eyes and laugh :p because she is such a stinker at home :D |
Have given up on groomers, after they cut Mollys tummy. I do it myself, using scissors when Molly is having a sleepy evening. She just lies there sleeping and lets me trim her body..i just flip her over when one side is done, so i can do the other! Her head i trim a bit at a time when it needs it. :) |
Mia is staying there for about 2 hours. I thought the same thing 2 Hours? Well it has been an hour I am patiently waiting for my phone call. They are going to shave the back of her ears. Is this normal? and her belly partially. (She gets too many stickers and stuff in it) he bum done and her face done. Oh and a bow. :p Pics later today of before and after. |

Usually a "standard" grooming without an actual cut includes bathing, shaving and tipping the ears, a sanitary shave, paw pads trimmed, and nails clipped. If you didn't specify it's likely they will shave the base of her nose at her eyes and give her "bangs" too. |
actually, i usually take milu in and wait for her while she is getting groomed, and it does take my groomer almost 2 hours to groom her, and that's not including bathing her. (i bath her myself before i take her to the groomers, because i don't want them to take milu to the back room where i can't see her) i think it takes longer if the groomer is trying to be nice to the dog instead of speedy. my groomer will take time to talk to milu while she is grooming her. and she'll tell milu "i am sorry" "it's ok baby" things like that. instead of being mean to try to get her to stay still. (which sometimes groomers have to do for more rebellious dogs, otherwise they will never finish grooming all the dogs) |
Harley just had his 4th appointment. The appointments have ranged from 2-5 hours denpending on how busy they are. I don't like leaving him for that length of time. I've thought about trying to groom him myself but I'm scared I may mess him up :>) |
I took Boots the the groomers yesterday  for the first time... they took about 2 1/2 hours... but they did a great job =D although I had asked not to shave anything off from his face, and they did =( but everthing else was fine. oh. they also shaved his belly... he had lots of mats there :p |
Grooming Harry went for his first appointment on Thursday....I have taken Trevor to this groomer and he did great, and LuckyLady here on YT recommended her and I trust her completely. Well I got up Thursday, and started to have 2nd thoughts......but took him anyway. I dropped him off before work, and planned to pick him up on my lunch break. Kim (the groomer) said that would be perfect. By 9:30 she was calling my cell to come and get him because he was crying. He tolerated the grooming fine....but when he was put in the cage, he cried...and cried....and cried. He looked beautiful, but that cage stuff is for the birds!!!!! |

The groomer I have for my Louis also said he behaved well. He is so mischievous at home! :) |
