Help peeing in chair Good Morning! I am writing for my mom. After seeing my two girls my mom wanted a yorkie. I was trying to help her find one and she didn't want to wait. She got Gracie back in Jan. The lady that had Gracie had all kinds of dogs(puppymill). I tried to talk her out of it and getting one were Emmie came from. She seen Gracie and it was all over. Gracie was only 8 weeks old when mom got her. It is only mom and Gracie at home. Mom doesn't work so they are together all the time. I tried to tell her that they are like kids. Gracie has started peeing on mom's chair. Mom had let Gracie in the bed a few times and now she is peeing on the bed. Mom won't let her in the bedroom any more. Gracie uses pee pads and she can jump like crazy. So I know she can get to her pads. Mom just had her spayed last week and she peed on the chair yesterday. Now Gracie will back her butt up to mom's face, if she is on the couch. So my question is---Is all of this a dominance thing? Does anyone have any ideals on what to do? Thanks for any help u can give. |
i am not sure if it's a dominance thing or not, but the puppy is still really young, so it's important to work with her to correct any bad habits before they form. tell her 'no' when she is doing something you don't want her to do. and reward her with praises and treats for good behaviors. where do you place her pee pad? |
Puppy mill dogs are not reared properly, so they do tend to have many problems. One of these is that they were raised living in their own excretions. This deprives them of the principle to NOT pee where they live. I think this is the case with your mom's dog. Also, the dog may be displaying anger or dominance by doing this. When Cash was about 4 months old, he would *punish* me by peeing on my pillow and on my bed when I had left him alone too long. He was also from a bad breeder (I didn't know better then) and due to many behavioral issues, I enrolled him in a clicker training class. This miraculously took care of all the problems, including the peeing. I would therefore suggest that your mom take her pup to training classes. The trainer will also be able to help with these particular issues if your mom asks him/her. Your mom can also try using a diaper or panties to keep her from doing this, but I would go for the training first. I hope this helps. I am afraid your mom is now paying dearly for her haste. Keep us updated. Good luck.:aimeeyork |
