Pedigree question I just received papers from the AKC for my little girl. I am confused on the information, and can't contact the breeder. Here is the question My little girl's parents have the same mother, but different fathers. Is this normal? And the next thing is what are the #'s in parentheses under the names of her parents? If it represents the date of birth both mother and father have the same #'s so that would mean that her records are not accurate? Thanks Dee |
The date under the names are when she registered them.:) |
Sorry I forgot about the mothers of the parents, that is called Line breeding, I don't know a lot about it, but I am sure someone on here can help you.:) |
The # are when they entered the AKC stud book |
funny story here. When I got my first AKC papers, I looked at the dates under the mother and father and thought AKC had made an oops so i called them and said, 'you are showing my yorkie older than his parents". they had a laugh and told me those numbers are as Mardlin said, the date they were entered into the stud book. |

Thank you for that information. My greatest concern however, is the fact that both parents have the same mother, is that normal? |

Mardelin, I am not understanding what is meant by faults in a line. And what do you mean by your real type? I don't mean to sound so stupid, but really concerned. I want to have babies,is that still possible with out having any problems? |

I think what Mardelin was saying is, that each breeder has a certain type of "look" they are breeding for. Whether they like yorkies with lightly shorter muzzles or yorkies with super glossy hair, each breeder's type of "look" is different. Please YTers correct me if I'm wrong. Do you want to breed her? And just curious, what breeder did you get her from? |

For instance I have a female that went a bit light, and led with her head in the ring. Some days she showed like a dream and others she'd look at me like I'd lost mind for wanting to take her into the ring. When I bred her, I bred her to a stud with excellent head carriage, great showmanship and dark. I got what I wanted, he complimented her well and corrected what I wanted to correct. |
