Don't leave her outside. Sometimes I put Lola in the kitchen blocked off with a baby gate and she does fine. |
When I leave Gizmo has her large crate. she jumps out of an ex-pen and destroys the house. Katie and Lilly stay in a babies Pack-N-Play since they can not jump or climb, but at least I know when I'm not at home they are safe and if god forbid I have a fire or some other emergency when I'm not here The emergency dept can find and save my babies with no trouble instead of trying to chase them around the house. |
Please don't leave your baby outside. One of our grooming clients did that and her dog was stolen. She had a hole cut in her fence!!!!! |
Please don't leave your baby in the yard. In addition to the great reasons already given don't forget theft. Popular dogs like Yorks are being stolen at a high rate I suppose the economy has something to do with it, but its just one more reason not to do it. |
tell your mother that yorkies are NOT outside dogs!!!! I would confine her to the kitchen or bathroom with some food, water, toys and a peepad. |
If I need to leave Sophie all day, I use a baby gate for the bathroom. Then I leave water and her bed too. Otherwise, I leave her gated in our bedroom, and if we have an accident, she usually goes to a rug in the master bath where there is no carpet. Good luck. I would never leave a Yorkie outdoors unsupervised. |
If you are looking for additional ideas you can also use Doggie Daycare. But outside should NEVER be an option for a yorkie. |
I have to agree with the others...do not leave your Yorkie outside, ever. My only suggestion is, if you decide to use a baby or pet gate, is to make certain it is NOT plastic, they will chew right through it...the ones I use for Winston is metal coated with plastic...works great. He knows when I'm leaving and runs into the kitchen and jumps in his bed...so try to coax your little one in and then put up the gate...no chasing it to capture and lock it up...they will only resent you and run and hide when it's time for you to leave. And don't forget to puppy proof the space...a bored puppy may start chewing on anything and everything. |
The kitchen will be perfect. That's plenty of room. Just make sure she has everything that she needs. I would NEVER EVER leave my Yorkie outside unattended. |
Thank you so much guys- after reading this thread I have no intentions of leaving her outside!! Right now I'm finding her "doggy sitters"- my sister (she loves to play with her dogs), my in-laws, etc. I'm going to hit Target this weekend and get a few gates for either the kitchen or bathroom. Thanks for the input! |
maybe a crate or get a neighbor or friend to ler her out during the day go home at lunch? |
