I need Arkansas Members help... On May 10th we leave for Arkansas and should arrive on May 11 th. We are going out to pick up a YT members 1 1/2 year old female that needs to be re-homed in Little Rock. I very excited as I've always wanted a girl. While we're there I thought that I would have Baron Neutered and his 1 retained Canine tooth removed. The surgey in Pa. is $500.00 plus. We will celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary on May 5th. This is a little get away trip with the 2 boys to pick-up their NEW Sister. If anyone is from the Little Rock area that is where we're picking our girl up at. If you know of a great Vet to do the surgery, Please let me know. Also, Please refresh my memory about the 2 Anesthesias that are safe to use on Yorkies! I would like to make an appt. ASAP as he will need Bloodwork and his 2 shots. Thank-You ahead of time for any and all help. I'm very nervous about neutering him. I htought if we went site seeing while he was being done it might keep my mind off of it...Probably not, But, It sounds like a good idea...Baron's very nervous Mommy... |
Hi, I'm not from Little Rock, but I am from Hot Springs, AR. When my little fella had to have emergency surgery my vet recommended this vet hospital. Hillcrest Animal Hospital, 2900 Kavanaugh Blvd, Little Rock, AR, 72205 Phone # 501-663-1284 Please visit the website - Hillcrest Animal Hospital - Serving Little Rock since 1983 Dr. Larry Nafe and Dr. Sonya Lavergne did the surgery. They saved my little Dinkey's life. He had a large orange size abscess on his pancreas and on part of his intestines. They removed it and about 9 inches of his small intestines. The entire staff was wonderful and very very nice. They are very very good and come highly recommended. Good Luck and enjoy Little Rock. |
General Anesthetics: Gas anesthetics cause a deep sleep-like state in animals, completely eliminating the sensation of pain. All these agents work directly on the brain. Some that are currently used by veterinarians include sevoflurane, isofluorane Make sure they use one of these. Sevo is the best. |
Thank-You Manolos Mom... I wrote it down this time. My memories going already @ 49...lol I should be a trip @ 60... :p Thanks again..:D |
I'm confused and concerned Is it a good idea to have major surgery on a dog and then subject him to a cross country road trip? What are you planning on doing if an emergency arises on the way back to your house? |
Hi John, I'm staying in Arkansas for a few days. We're picking up a female that needed re-homed. I am a retired Veterinary Assisstant and do know what to do if an Emergency would pop up. I have been in the Veterinary Field for over 30 years . I would not leave right away and put Baron through all that car movement right after surgery. It's also my 30 th Wedding Anniversary,we thought that we would site see the day of his surgery and stay @ the hotel a few days for him to recuperate. I certainly will discuss the travel concerns with the Vet who does his neuter. Thank-You for your concern though...:) |
Hello, and I hope you have a great time in Arkansas. I live in Little Rock, and we use a vet that has her office a little outside of L.R. She did the neutering for both Hope and Rio - they breezed through. Her name is Judith VanPelt - at Landmark Animal Hospital. The phone # is 501-888-3675. They are closed on Wed. If you need any additional info., just pm me. Also, i have heard good things about Hillcrest. Best of luck!:) |
