Droppy ears My yorkie is about 3months old and her ears don't stand up at all, is she alittle young or is there something I should do to help? |
Jackson's didn't stand up until about 4 months. It helped a lot when he got groomed and she shaved the tips of his ears. |
Thank you so much. Its crazy how I worry about everything with her |
My George has really fluffly ears inside and out, when he goes for his next groom do they trim the inside of Yorky ears and how do they do it, I would hate the thought of accidently nicking his ears. If I don't get them trimmed will it make his ears drop and does it affect his hearing |
sometimes the ears flop from being teething |
It doesn't sound like her ears have ever stood up....if that's the case you might try taping them for several days or so....that can help to make them stand up...If they aren't up after a week...then they will probably never stay up... Good luck...I'd do a search on "taping ears"....there are some threads that explain how to do it...and definately have the ears shaved...that does help... You will need to do it soon...because as they get older it will be too late... |
ears I'll bet he's teething.......getting them shaved helps too....I have a little Morkie and when they shaved his ears......they stood up......who would have thunk it????LOL:aimeeyork |

one of suki's ears started to stand on its own..her daddy massages her ears when they are resting from playtime..he's even more worried than me that the other ear wont stand up:p but i told him it would go when it wants to..i think it just takes time but either way its soooo cute!;) |
I just shaved Lilah's ears tonight. Should they just automatically stand up, meaning immediately, or will it take a few days? I've read some posters stating the ears stood up after shaving but how soon is that? Five minutes or five days? I realize every dog is different, I'm just looking for some examples. Thanks!! |
It took Laddy's ears a few days after we shaved them but the seemed like they just were up one day about half way and the rest of the way a couple days later. I do remember he would kind of hold them almost crossed in the middle after they started standing almost looked like he didnt have ears lol I almost panicked :pbut as you can see from my avitar they are good and up and he is 7 and a half months now . He is the darker tinier one. :doghouse::dogprintsCharlene:dogprintsMama to Laddy & Lolita:dogprints:doghouse: |

floppy ears I would like my morkies ears to flop down. She is 3 1/2 months and her ears popped up 2 weeks ago. Any chance they will flop over again? Can I do anything to encourage them to drop over? |
To make the ears stand up there's one trick to get it done in a week. I learned this from my vet when my babies ears were droopy. You tape them up up like a pancake. Will attach pics of my baby, they were up In a matter of days. It's a it hard to see but you basically wrap medical tape around it making them stand up without folding. You can also wait they should stand up soon but I did it and do it to all my dogs works like a charm. :) |
1 Attachment(s) Forgot to attach pic lol kind of hard to see with the sand but they are wrapped up and now they are perfect |

Bentley is about 4.5 months old now. He's a one ear up one ear down puppy right now. First ear didn't stand until right at 4 months. This other one is teasing me. It was up beautifully this morning and then all of a sudden started to sag again. I'd say give it some time and keep the ears trimmed. |
