are you asking for like dogs in heat or to keep them from pottying inside?bailee is wearing them at nite becuz she is in heat.its not working so well becuz no matter how tight i tighten then,they fall off..i would not use them for pottying traing becuz puppies are likely to shred them

I'm curious to read answers here. I just bought some today for the new puppy. I figured I would use them if she was sleeping so she wouldn't pee where she slept. Leo had a problem with that for the first nine months or so.

where did u get them from and about how much did they cost

I made June some panties last night and she is going to wear them at night since she has peed and pooped in my bed before. Sweetviolet had a free pattern available and I guess it would be fine if I sent it to you - providing you want to sew them yourself. They are easy to make.

June will also wear them when she is running around and playing with Cash since she is really quick to scurry out of eyesight and pee wherever she likes.

I am hoping it will work, but I am sure it will. I think they are a great housebreaking tool (not to mention seasonal!).

A panty with a liner makes sense for dogs in season, as does a belly band for males. But I think poop dosn't need to be contained in a diaper on a dog overnight. That is just unhealthy for the dog. And isn't it time consuming for you to have to bathe its butt to get the poop and pee out of its hair?

I think it would be more healthy for you to contain your pup in a crate when you can't watch it, or an X-pen of somekind. Or you can tie a leash around your waist and attach the other end to the puppy so you can pay attention to what they are doing.

I think some manufacturers just go for the money and not the practicle side for the owner. A Dog is just not a human baby.

June has an expen and she is in there when I can't supervise. She is never in a room if I am not there. BUT she sleeps with me and has peed and pooped in my bed, so I need something that will teach her to hold it.
I agree that dogs are not human babies, but you know, sometimes clever people adapt things to fit animals. If you haven't tried it, I don't think you have a right to have an objection to it.
The panties simply teaches your dog to hold it and it is very practical to be able to take your pup somewhere without having to worry that she will pee or poop on someone else's carpets or couches.
I think it is disgusting to have a dog pee in your bed and I think that is a more unhealthy than having a pup learn to hold it. The panties are not really meant to catch the pee or poop, it is used to train them to hold it. I am sure that a pup won't poop in it twice.
I make the panties from a free pattern, so it has nothing to do with manufacturers and money.
I don't want to offend, but I think that if you don't know everything about something, you shouldn't comment on it. Again, I'm not being mean or rude, but if you haven't used something or at least read up about it, you shouldn't dismiss the thing. JMO

I use belly bands on my males only. Even though two are neutered they just started marking when the intact one started showing signs of man hood. Ha, ha! My girls get confined to my kitchen dinning area when they are in heat so they don't use panties.

I have been wondering about diapers, I am traveling to MI, this weekend to see my new grandbaby, it is a 8 hour drive, Shay is 7 months old (and lately his potty training is not so great) ooooo and brand new truck to boot!...lol...was thinking of using them while traveling....what ya'll think?

The belly bands, for lil boys...I see ppl post things in reference to them, but what exactlly are they for? I saw you said, helps stop them from marking, since reaching manhood...so makes them not be able to go??

I just read my message again after a couple of months and I am sad to see that you nitpicked the one thing that wasn't completely, completely correct.
I am sorry if I offended you, but the statement still stands: If you haven't tried something, don't diss it. You are only limiting yourself.

The belly bands are for catching the marking of the boys. Few boys will want to pee in them because they don't like the wetness against their bodies, so then they don't mark. Because the marking isn't really bladder-related (meaning they don't really need to pee), the boy will opt out of peeing while in the diaper. I fashioned one for a friend who was visiting with her male yorkie. It works really well, but you have to get them used to it.

If Cash (my male yorkie) marked, I would definitely put a belly band on him. For sure.

Just an update: I used the diapers on June and she is fully potty trained at 8 months. She can go on command, wherever I want her to and she knows her potty place at our home and uses it on her own.
She hasn't gone into heat yet, but apparently they keep themselves very clean. If not, I will make her some more panties.

I will call myself kind of an expert on the doggie diapers as I had to use them on my Mini. Schnauzer for over 2 years. I do not believe they are meant for potty training. That is training that you need to do yourself. If your puppy pees and poops in your bed then it should not be sleeping with you. Dogs don't pee in their crates if they can help it. If the puppy is young, get out of bed when it fusses and take it to where it pees, then put it back to bed. As it gets older, the time increases between when they have to go. My Morkie was sleeping through the night at 6 months old. Now she sleeps about 10 hours (she just turned 1 yr) My Schnauzer had kidney problems the last couple of years of her life. She would pee in her sleep and not even know it. I tried the diapers and they were great. I used them at night or if I had to be gone for any lenght of time. I did have trouble with them staying on but I bought a diaper cover from Dr. Leonard and Smith and it worked great, diapers stayed taped and on. However, if you use diapers, you need to wash the area when you take the diapers off if they are wet as the puppies can get infections from the urine being next to their skin. The diapers would work for traveling with a younger pup also unless they are in a kennel. It's still best to stop and let them go potty outside and stretch their little legs. Please make sure if you use diapers on an occasion that you let the puppy know they are not being punished. Abby got upset the first couple times and acted like she did something wrong. Once I figured out the problem, I would make it kind of a game to put them on and keep telling her how pretty and cute she was. Made a world of difference. Hope that helps some, don't mean to sound like a know it all, but don't use diapers just so you don't have to get up at night, that's part of having a new puppy and potty training.

I am in the process of potty training two boys ages 5 1/2 months and 6 months. I use the doggie diapers made by Four Paws. They have a cut out for the tail, so the dog can still poop freely (which they poop only outside, that part of training is solved).The diaper made to hold an absorbent pad, ( I use poise pads for humans, cut in 1/2's). Since my living/dining area is wall to wall carpeting and this is where they get their free time, they wear these during free playtime. I still take them outside (remove the diaper) about evry hour or so, they pee/ poop/ run around, and I put the diaper back on and take them back inside. The reason I use them in just in case they start to sniff or squat in the house, I can get them outside without having to worry about any drips on the carpet. So far this has worked wonders for me. I think we all know how fast those little boogers can cop a squat! The diapers are not in place of good training techniques, just another tool. Both of them sleep in crates at night without diapers and do not pee or poop in the crates from 10:30 pm until 6:30 am. They used to both pee & poop in the crates when I first got them, so I must be doing something right. Read my previous posts about "Sir Craps Alot", you'll see what I mean.We have only a few times a week when I catch them sniffing around and then it's right outside we go. I had no sucess with belly bands as they would ride up on the puppies leaving their little dingle swaying in the breeze, free to pee! Every one has different methods for training, whatever works for some one may not work for others. I myself am having good success with the diapers and they are washable denim so they can't shred them.:)

I have used them on Addison since bringing him home. The only caution I would give it what my vet said at first visit. They are good tools, but watch for rash, and infection. Take them off each day for an extended period to assure the area is aired out properly ect. My vet said he say a male dog with a terrible urinary tract infection because of extended doggie band use (they kept them on ALL the time). We only use them when visiting or when we are gone more than 4 hrs.
