Hmmm---should she have white on her head?
 
My new yorkie has interesting coloring on her head---she looks like she has white/blond roots with really dark tips (about 1-2 inch of each color). Is this normal? Or is it a sign that she isn't a pure yorkie. Her mom is very light colored and her dad has classic yorkie coloring. Thoughts?:icon5:

Some go through a period where they have that white on the head its called breaking white. Anyway later on it changes to tan or gold

Twinkle did this too....now her head is a light blonde colour. I noticed just now that Wicket has very white roots too. Their parents were very pale in colouring. xxx xx

Roxie did this too. I can show you a pic. You can see the tips of her hair are black and the new growth coming out is blonde. DH calls her blondie sometimes. She fits into our family well with that since all 4 of our kids were toe heads!

Hot Rod had a white patch when we got him and it kept getting bigger and bigger. I didn't realize that this was going to happen. I don't know what I expected from his first groom but all of his black tips were cut off :(. Now with Maggie May I'm resisting clipping her head as I want her to keep her "puppynish". lol.

suki has a white patch but on her chest but she still looks adorable to me..i think its ok..:D

Jackson did the same thing! Alot of white on the top of his head and they had black tips on it. It looked like I had died his hair or something, lol

The first two pics were before he was ever groomed. I would guess he was about 18 weeks in those.

The last pic is a current one, him at 6 months. The white on his head is turning into the gold/tan color.

My Snicky has a white patch on his head and I LOVE it!! Will it for sure grow out?? Are there any adult/older Yorkies out there that have a permanent white topped head?? I hope so!! It does not seem to be turning tan at all. Maybe it is silver?? Looks grey/white to me!!

Sorry to disappoint...but it's not likely to stay white. He's likely to be a year old or older when it will gold out completely.

This happened with Tink, too. I have a picture but's one of those old fashioned paper ones.....soooooooo long ago. yes, it grows out :)
